Will imported models "follow" the map?

I'm wondering; if I share the map I'm working on with someone else, will they need the files for all the imported models I have used?
Or will they be... merged into the map I guess?

Is it enough to share the map alone or will I need to transfer all the custom models as well?
And if that is the case, will the model files need to be in a certain file path in order to be registered?

They'll be downloading the imported assets along with everything else. It's no different from when you play a map on the BNET, you don't need to take any extra steps, you just download and play.
