yes hero couldn't raise it as usual ability, BUT you may make a trigger wich will upgrade an ability and use for this 1 ability point.
( i may try to make a tutorial about this if you want)
also abount 2nd point of course you may make different abilities for different classes
dialog box rules for this !
the hard one trigger will be to remove used ability from the list of "choosing an ability"

what!? there's a dota wannabe with my ideas implemented already?
i don't really want to make like 30 heroes. like, say 10 at first?
to stray away from the DOTA style of gameplay with creeps spawning every X seconds at the same time, what about creeps stationed in specific areas, the further you go to the middle of the map, the higher the levels? so like outside your base there'll be a few batch of creeps that will respawn in their spots after X seconds, you level up, the middle will be the big playground for players as they craft their specific heroes with the list of skills.
like say demon hunter has 12 available skills, but can only choose four to his disposal. you have A build demon hunter, B build, etc for different heroes to take on.
... ahhh what a dream... half the stuff i mentioned is probably hard to do or impossible.
offtopic: i can't get my 3dsmax or gmax to work. is there any other free 3d program besides gmax i can use? i think my 3dsmax 4 is waaaaay outdated.
