nop, no proxy. i used with only one IE on.

probably the browser or you are using 2x java or HTLM chats or such i had that too when i used chatiago or what ever the name was

I have this problem, too, but only in a weird situation.
I always get disconnected if I click on links that someone wrote in the Chat.
But if I don't click on any links, I have no problems.

That has happened to me for years on any computer I use. I've also tried at a couple of friends' houses without success.
