okay this may sound weird, but i myself think it's true...

it's called " beginner's luck" because when you try something new, you do very well the first time. Next time you try it's always not that easy anymore. Anyone have the same feeling?? It's more of a fluke than an actual skills, and it's always pretty hard to beat afterwards.

Not so sure if it applies to everything tho....

Beginners luck is the term for when beginners accidentally do or discover something that is quite effective. In lots of games and fields, it's easy to accidentally learn something that works well. Learning when to use it and what it is and is not effective against is skill.

Beginners luck is a fact, when a beginner uses techniques way beyond his skill level by accident in the common beginner "try stuff out" way of doing things, its called beginners luck.

It's like scoring that accidental headshot in CS when using a new gun, or nuking an enemy in CnC and hitting right the spot. (the spot to do maximum damage that is.)

has anyone actually experience beginner's luck??
well i guess it's made only just for us to take interest in a particular thing, or else if everything was so hard and takes years to master...... I don't think anyone will bother trying without interest.....

According to my mother, beginner's luck is when you do well in a game because you're a lot less immersed in it, and therefore can think more clearly than a serious player.

I get a lot of beginner's luck.

You don't get beginner's luck in any video game, because for beginner's luck to occur, the game itself needs to have luck play a large role in it, like poker or mahjong.

If there was beginner's luck in video games there would be no need for the term "noob".

Luck is luck ... So if there ain't any beginner's luck or something there wouldn't be any luck in video games ... which is NOT true.
Beginner's luck requires a game to have a large dependence on luck to be the way it is. Unless you're playing something like solitaire, this would not hold true. Most video games concentrate on being heavily reliant on skill, because that's what attracts the multiplayer gamers, and most gamers in general.

Beginners luck, encountered it today.
I and my little brother was playing risk (a boardgame) with my mother.
She had never tried it before and still she managed to defeat us without any problem at all.

I agree, even though i have not experienced much beginner's luck, but i know it's true....................... and btw did ur mom play risk afterwards?
