What is normal skin abilities?

I found this when investigating the matter, on official forums :

I don't understand ability skin

I didn't completely understand either, but everytime I create a new unit I add her ability skins as well.
Same with heroes and heroes abilities, and everything seems to work so far

Well that was a confusing read, still not sure i understand, but If it doesn't harm maps then I guess I won't worry. Good job on finding that!
