What determines the order of multiple selected unit types

I have a rather basic question which I'm sure has been asked before, but I don't know the right terminology to look it up.

Basically I'm wondering what determines the order multiple units you've selected are placed in in the bottom-middle of the screen.

I've attached a screenshot of what I mean:

I know that heroes are placed at the very start, but I can't figure out why the other unit types are arranged as they are. This ogre has only passive abilities for example, yet he's placed before several types of mages.

How can I change that?

i think it's the "Stats-Priority" Field, the higher, the further up front. However i don't know how units with the same priority are placed

Hm. I thought Stats-Priority might be the right field, but I've also heard several people say that Stats-Priority determines what order the AI attacks units in. Does it do both?

I think also Stats - Formation Rank affects this maybe, or probably just the position of units when you give orders to a unit group (12 max).
