What are your favorite melee maps?

What are your favorite melee maps, it can be blizzard's melee or other people's melee?

Mine probably are the following:

BLIZZARD

• Booty bay
• Korea
• Turtle Rock
• Venetia
• Enarko's Way
• Lost temple

CUSTOM

• Archipelago - (Amazing terrain, also the map is well balance)Ken-E and Misha
• Shifting Sands - XPQJ (I really love the terrain)
• Incoming Tide - RGS (The terrain really is amazing)
• Ancient Haosis - -Kobas- (Because of masterhaosis )
• Stairway - Septimus (One of the best terrain for a melee map)
• Darkshire - HFR (A well made map, also the terrain is very appealing)
• Gardens of Zirmiath - Aero (For be this is one the best 12 player melee map)
• Dalaran Ruins - Eubz (Awesome terrain
• Rocky Land -

 

[Map Designer]

Blizzard:

• Plunder Isles: it is was the first one upon which I based my map.
• Friends: I can play next to Human computer enemy and have fun with him
• that one with 5 players down and 5 up, because they are close to each other, maybe dalaran ruins.
• I generally like games that has city-like terrains and doodads, and island-like doodads and terrain
• and maps that has too close camps

Custom:

• my map no doubt, although it has no terrain.
• I got to check those you mentioned, I've never seen em before. especially the one with 12 players. It may fit my map, with alliances... wowperfect integrity.
• and small town I guess, although I did not try it, but camps are close.

Blizzard :
- Friends : I got lulz when AI fight each other when their base are gets too close to each other. I always set to get ryandom hero thing for more lulz
- Lost Temple : my favorite place because of the fountain's place.
Custom :
My own maps, although one of it somehow got broken when I import WoW harpy to it -.-

Blizzard:
Islands- I used its terrain for my Water World Map, aside from that, its really an innovative maps.

Custom:
*Blood Raven Pack- extraodinary and he is able to create kick ass 12 player map.
*Elemental War - melee map that was a very risky move when it comes to terraining, BR had to combine different tile set to create something new, sadly it got rejected, still got it on my hard drive though.
*Ancient Haosis -
*Rocky Land - its innovative, what else to say.

Here are my favorite Altered Melee Maps

• Rise of Civilization - Recommended if you a long game.
• Age of War2 - Amazing map, good models, tech, upgrades, etc. You think this is good enough? Wait for the terrain that I'm doing for that map
• The World of Azeroth - Got a low rating, but still a amazing map
• Faction Wars - Heh, epic map, lets support Ken-E for the sequel EchoStorm
• Evolution of Races - Classic

My fav alter melee map are all battle for suppremancy. Because you can be permanently invisible if you use 2 cloak of shadows xD.

If we get more members, I'll open up a melee map making contest, so Snow, map designer and Radamantus should practive now.( I know your talent so I know that you're on a disadvantage) I'll be the judge there.

Sonofjay, I want to ask 2 question:
1) What's the best tileset for beginners to practice?
2) What is the best map size for beginners?

For beginners I suggest using the ashenvale or village tileset, also the best map size are 128x128 and 160x160 to beginners.

I don't really have any favorite maps, they're all good, and that includes the custom maps here. But I do like altered melee maps more than simple melee maps.

Battle For Outland(I wish there were more maps with a full elven techtree)
Faction Wars(Awesome futuristic weaponry with plenty of references to classic and beloved games) Kudos Ken-E!
EchoStorm(probably, it ain't out yet, but I'll probably play it and love it).

My favorite type of melee map is:

• Barrens
• Icecrown Glacier
• Village Fall

But ,my favorite map is:

• (8) Friends

But overall, I prefer scenarios Barrens. It's charming, and Thunder Bluff.

My favorite blizzard melee maps are those where you have to chop down the trees before accessing to the enemy which are:

- Adrenaline
- Nighthaven

Then, I love the map Friends because the teamwork appears very clearly in such a map.
