Wepon path follower (the wind after the wepon)

I'm trying to make some kind of a line after the wepon of my model.You know when the Blade Master atack somebody his blade leave a line for some time.Maybe this can be than whit the blizzard Ribon Emitter...I don't know.Can you tell me whou to do it?

Yes that is in fact a ribbon emitter.

What programs do you have/use?

Well... I'm using milkshape and 3ds max 4.2.I'm making models whit milkshape and finishing them in 3d max.Adding animation and special effects.

then just make a ribbon emitter (it's in under the "helpers" category) and link it to your sword. You might also tweak the number of edges per second, set it to around 32.
