Hi guys.

Lately, when my laptop continue running for long time, Warcraft do not start until I double and wait long time(like a minute or so), or double click it twice. That is a total of 4 clicks; 2 runs Warcraft and 2 make it say: it is already running. It used to be solved upon restart, but this method no longer works.
I also find firefox to slower than it should be too often, and some times hanging, with less than 20 tabs open.

Have you faced such before? Any idea how to make it run with two clicks only?

There are 2 possible causes.
1. Your hard disk is very busy (some other process is generating a lot of I/O with it while you are trying to load).
2. Your hard disk is starting to fail and is not working as fast as it should.

Use Resource Monitor to checks the average read and write speeds of your hard disks. When idle your system should not be performing any noticeable I/O with it. If it is then some process is responsible. If it is not then the hard disk might be suffering from ware and you might want to consider a new one.

If you are using a mechanical drive you should consider defragmenting to see if that makes any difference. Never defragment a SSD.

And how is it possible to check read and write speed? I am using Windows 7. to check it, I copied Warcraft from D to D: the speed wen from MB/sec up to 8 MB/sec and the back to around 5MB/sec. I copied again from D to C, and the speed went down from 111MB/sec to around 10~18(copied first file pretty quickly and then almost stoped): thats what it say, but I think it is slower since War3 is 3 GB and time remaining was about 16 Minutes!!!!!

Edit: I got this resource monitor, and it says speed one has max speed of 100MB/sec and the other has 5MB/sec, and written above the second (C :D). And I think the highest I/O generator is some kind of...brb.

and hey, I just got my computer out the shop!! Dont say he spoiled it Q_Q, Ouch! it hurts.

Think I will save the file in recovery then format this one disk if possible, not at the moment though.

A good disk speed for a 1TB hard disk is 100-200 MB/sec (both read and write). No hard disk should ever be 5 MB/sec now days and that would defiantly be the cause of the load problem.

Resource Monitor is an administrator tool of the Windows 7 operating system. It can be reached from Task Manager or from the Administrator section of the control panel.

so, you think formatting would solve it or...
and I got the resource monitor, yet I dont get how I can measure the hard disk speed with it, and which hard disk it measures. I just go to disk tab and see proscesses with disk activity, disk activity, and storage. And I also see graph in the right that shows the speed of something, but, apparently, it is current speed of it because it changes, not the maximum. It even goes some times to about 100 KB/sec.

both my hard disks are 500 GB.

Hello guys,
It can be a problem with rundll32.exe too, I had this problem with WarCraft 3, GTA San Andreas, Gothic 3 and NfS: U2. Try to launch game twice, when the game is started open the Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc or Ctrl+Alt+Delete), go to processes tab, find rundll32.exe and kill it. After it's done open a game from taskbar or use Alt+Tab. Here is some info about it: http://www.neuber.com/taskmanager/process/rundll32.exe.html.
