Warcraft III Registry Fixer 1.0

Warcraft III Registry Fixer is a program that fixes several registry entries that warcraft
uses.
This lil program comes into use when you have just copied the files of warcraft, not ran the installer.

Brilliant tool! 5 star =)
Having put together my new pc, I simply copied the WC3/TFT files across from the old one, preferrring to avoid using windows registry where possible. This worked fine up until a new patch was released upon where it could not be installed without the registry info.
Simply saves reinstalling from scratch if you copy the files to a pc without installing normally.
For those of you worrying it is not legal, you still need your cd key verified to play on battle.net, which I believe is the most popular use of WC3 anyway.

Illegal?
I dont think so
Because if you really want to play the illegal WC3 you can download it in many site with its serial number generator.....so I think this software is more helpful for people who need it rather than to hack it.

To anyone who doesn't know what this does....
It most likely changes the registry path that WC3 uses.

It's nothing illegal, and its something anyone (with registry skills) can do.
But, honestly, if you don't know what this does...
1. Don't post here, saying its a hack. It isn't
2. Don't use it. This edits the registry files, and even if it only does so for WC3, it can still damage the entries, causing problems with the game.

OMG Thank you so much for creating this wonderful program. I have a cracked version of warcraft (temporary, installing vitals soon lol) and I couldn't use anything barely, well not my fave editors like vertex modify and War3 Editor. You don't know how much you helped me!

PS will it really cause probs with the game though...? That might be and issue...

THANKS! I need this badly. Doing install-reinstall of complete Warcraft3+ex can be waste of time when the clock ticks... Thanks again!

I find this extremely useful.. i have a cracked vers of the game too. The only thing that DOESN'T work is the editor because of the registry. And it's not hacking unless your modding the experience of play for you or others.

Does anyone know if this little fixer works with patch 1.30.04?
Registry Fixer is not compatible with recent patches because the tool is looking for your existing MPQ file, which doesn't exist anymore since 1.30+ due to the CASC.

However, you can still use the Regedit trick to manually fix your Warcraft III game installation. Simply navigate to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Blizzard Entertainment\Warcraft III", create a new string called "InstallPath" and make sure that its value points to where you installed the game.

Would this work if I didn't install the game?

I merely downloaded the folder from Hive not install the game through an installer.

If you installed the game through the original installer, it will obviously create the required game registry.

However, if you installed the game by downloading one of the folder, you have to create the required game registry manually in order to use any kind of tools (like Magos Model Editor).

Do you know if there is any tutorial for that?
Open the Registry Editor
Go to this path: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Blizzard Entertainment\Warcraft III\
Highlight the Warcraft III Folder
Right-click on the right hand side of the window
New > String Value
Name it InstallPath
Fill the value field with a path of any given Warcraft III installation or a folder that contains your MPQ files.
(For example: C:\Users\Peon\Desktop\Wc3 Archive\MPQ Files.)

This is the one that I taken from War3 Model Editor thread (StormKnight's comment). It will obviously work on the other tools that might require MPQ.

Be mindful that you only create this intended part. The Regedit is an expert tool by Windows that could cause serious issues with your system if you don't manage this part carefully.

In case you want to make Warcraft III-related files openable directly without actually opening the game/editor:

Create a new file using Notepad with the following scripts:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.w3g]
@="Warcraft3.Replay"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Warcraft3.Replay]
@="Warcraft III Replay File"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Warcraft3.Replay\DefaultIcon]
@="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Warcraft III\\Replays.ico"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Warcraft3.Replay\shell]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Warcraft3.Replay\shell\open]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Warcraft3.Replay\shell\open\command]
@="\"C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Warcraft III\\War3.exe\" -loadfile \"%1\""

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.w3m]
@="WorldEdit.Scenario"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\WorldEdit.Scenario]
@="Warcraft III Scenario File"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\WorldEdit.Scenario\DefaultIcon]
@="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Warcraft III\\WorldEdit.exe,2"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\WorldEdit.Scenario\shell]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\WorldEdit.Scenario\shell\open]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\WorldEdit.Scenario\shell\open\command]
@="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Warcraft III\\World Editor.exe -loadfile \"%1\""

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.w3n]
@="WorldEdit.Campaign"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\WorldEdit.Campaign]
@="Warcraft III Campaign File"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\WorldEdit.Campaign\DefaultIcon]
@="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Warcraft III\\WorldEdit.exe,4"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\WorldEdit.Campaign\shell]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\WorldEdit.Campaign\shell\open]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\WorldEdit.Campaign\shell\open\command]
@="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Warcraft III\\World Editor.exe -loadfile \"%1\""

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.w3x]
@="WorldEdit.ScenarioEx"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\WorldEdit.ScenarioEx]
@="Warcraft III Expansion Scenario File"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\WorldEdit.ScenarioEx\DefaultIcon]
@="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Warcraft III\\WorldEdit.exe,3"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\WorldEdit.ScenarioEx\shell]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\WorldEdit.ScenarioEx\shell\open]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\WorldEdit.ScenarioEx\shell\open\command]
@="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Warcraft III\\World Editor.exe -loadfile \"%1\""

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.wai]
@="WorldEdit.AIData"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\WorldEdit.AIData]
@="Warcraft III AI Data File"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\WorldEdit.AIData\DefaultIcon]
@="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Warcraft III\\WorldEdit.exe,5"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\WorldEdit.AIData\shell]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\WorldEdit.AIData\shell\open]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\WorldEdit.AIData\shell\open\command]
@="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Warcraft III\\World Editor.exe -loadfile \"%1\""

If you are using higher patches (1.28-1.31), replace "war3.exe" and "worldedit.exe" with "Warcraft III.exe" and "World Editor.exe".

Save as the ".reg", then double-click on that file to add your required registries.

So since I am using 1.30.4 and have no mpq file. I will just point the path toward my install folder?

Also where do I put the .reg file I just created?
As I said earlier, this tool won't work anymore because it's looking for the MPQ file, which is obviously replaced by CASC as of 1.30+.

The only way to fix the "InstallPath" registry is by manually creating it by yourself with the Registry Editor.
