I've been working on Stormwind, so far its not doing too bad, I've only run into small problems, I'm roughly 20% done with Stormwind, here are some somewhat complete entrance to Stormwind, with one of the new Footman models(from the RoC human Campaign menu) and the Footman general thats replacing MK, only difference is a few spells.

I'm not the best terrainer, so it may seem a bit basic, It will improve over time. I also got alot done on the middle island where Illidans forces will be, but I'll fix it up later for showing.
Basic Information:

This map, well the beggining of a series of maps, is made to greatly enhance gameplay, and each race will not only just have more units and structures, but new spells, upgrades, items etc. Most of the maps that will be created will feature atleast 6-8 players. Some races will require atleast 2, depending on the unit amount and the amount of races in each faction. Some factions however will have only 1 player, this is because of how powerful the race is, there units will be more powerful, but build slower and cost more. there are 6 unique races, each with there own heroes.

Most of the maps will be 480x480, but this varies depending on the map.

Though these maps were mainly going to be made like melee games, only more enhanced, we might as well make it more special.

Advanced information:

Objectives:
The main objective is to destroy all your opponents key structures, and take control of there territory/continent. With some maps objectives may vary, but have the basic objective.

In these maps there are many other special features that will make these custom maps more enjoyable then the basic melee matches. Here are some examples

1. Special Units: These units can be purchased at your home base(read more to find out what a home base is) These units don't spawn when they are done, but they spawn every lets say 3 minutes, similar to Footman Vs. Grunts. These units are more powerful then there normal counterparts, they cost lot more. A good advantage for these is if your base is in peril, and you need backup, then you have backup, these units have increased attack and defense and have special spells, including some that allow you to instantly heal buildings.

2. Secret Locations: These secret locations are quite hidden all over the map, but if you happen to run into one, you will have a advantage. Some of these locations carry special merc shops/taverns/item shops. There won't be "just" these however, there are also rescuable heroes and units, including some special items you can get from here. In most of these locations, special circle of powers that grant you the occasional gold and wood, some of these places are hidden enough or blocked, you have to use spells or workers to get too. Like one loaction is hidden by big trees(did I mention all trees are bigger?) and you must use the blood mage's "flame strike" ability. Also careful, these locations arn't that easy to get a hold of, Powerful creeps guard them, only they are computer controlled, so you cant find them on the maps.

There are 6 unique races, the ones you are familiar with, and new ones you arn't, here they are.

Factions:

Stormwind Alliance- Players 2- Pretty much the same as lordaearan, only way more enhanced
The Forsaken- Players 2-Similar style as the scourge, these guys have more "human" like features
Illidans Legion- Players 1- Illidans Legion contains many different races, such like Lost ones, Naga, Blood Elves, and Fel orcs.
Night Elves- Players 2- Not much to say about them.
Lich King's Legion- Players 1- Lich King focuses on his deathknights and icey kind of attacks, most similar units like the scourge.
Orcish Horde- Players 1- The Horde is stronger then ever, they have a more large variety of orc troops, including with help of trolls and taurens.

Key Heroes: These powerful heroes are your strongest unit, like a super hero on crack. Every faction/player will have 1 Key hero, which will carry 1 powerful item, now be VERY careful, these items are droppable by death, if your enemy gets a hold of key hero items, they will be more powerful, and harder to kill. To avoid this you can send out key hero dummies with your army that carry dummy items, this is to help protect your main hero and avoid him being killed, these dummies can be bought at your key structure(Home base). You're key hero will cost you a lot of resources to revive, so be very careful with your hero.

Key Sructures: These can be considered your "home base". These structures is where your special units/heroes can be bought, this is even where your heroes can be revived. Each key structure has many powerful spells to stop your enemy from destroying it. If you only have your key structure left and the rest of your base is destroyed, you can train free peasants, but only a certain amount, so you can rebuild your base. If your home base is destroyed, you lose the game.

Testing phase won't be for a couple of months, sense there is a lot of terraining to do, and unit designing etc. Lot has been accomplished so far, I've been working on this for quite a while now. We do need more members, my current set of members haven't been real "active". So below will be the list of available openings.
P.S: We are also needing people that will help us give more ideas to make these maps better.

Triggering: We need someone for this, I don't think there will be too much, maybe ,mostly for certain spells, but that part isnt needed.
Item/spell maker: These are greatly needed, we need active people for this.
Hero Designer: There are many heroes that need to be created, I'm not too good in this field.
Modeler: This is greatly needed, mostly for removing basic things like hero glows and some model designing.

Anyone who helps will be credited in the quest log of each map, and will get +rep, anyone who is actually taking part in the project will have there names as the creators of each map(depends which maps you participate in) and will have there names credited at the beggining of each map(when you start the game) I will also credit each site I get models/skins from, even tutorials. Help is greatly needed, each map is rather huge and its a lot of work for me to just do. I'm already doing most of it.

I need active people that will stay in touch and inform me of progress and such, sometimes we will all get together and talk about the progress and more ideas. Soon I will have a small forum set up for storing all progress.

If you have any questions just post and ask

Very good progress! Hopefully I can start working on it in a week or two. But wont 300 food cap and nine players make a lot of lagg? I wish you would have shown something other than water in the screenshot, like, the island maybe? But it does look like you added most of the...uh, I'ma take a guess and say Lich king's army over to the right.

The island isn't even come close to a showing phase lol, I accidentally got the tiles messed up when attempting to try and add numerous more tiles... Until that part is fix, I'll prob just post some screenies this weekend of some of the units, including the Lich King.

Also what do you mean over to the right o_O, Hes in Northrend, which is at top...

Also guys, I'm thinking about, focusing on making the tech trees first and maybe just impliment them on a premade map for testing, sense the terrain will be a long process.

Wish people would put up more ideas @_@, I could use them. Or at least some feedback.

Just ask questions about the map lol.

Oh I almost forgot, lag shouldn't be a issue, ill prob make food cap 200-250, and just increase how much foo intake units take.

Yes, your help would be greatly needed, though until i get the terrain done, we would need a lot of trigger testing on other maps and see if they would work. I'll PM you

Hey, Northend looks really good. Seems like just the right amount of detail to me. I'm free for the summer so I'm going to start working on those items, but I have a question. Are we going to use just the ones we make? Or our items plus the ones already there?

Hey, it looks like an awesome idea, and I'd like to suggest an idea for the different races. Although a large variaty of units can be fun, if you have too many options, people don't really know what to buy! So, I suggest that you make the races branching. You can move more twoards ice or more twoards nubarians or whatever. It's relatively easy to program, but does require more custom units. It will make each game more unique, make the gameplay more interesting and ore fun! And, sorry if I have no idea what I'm talking about. It's a genetic disorder.
