Yeah. But today`s High Elves are not Enemies of Night Elves. Why? We all know that Highborne betrayed Night Elves in anger for magic (just as Kael). Than evil Queen Azshara summoned Sargeras. Some Highborne returned back to Kaldorei. Later, they went out to the Great Sea, in search for a new homeland, and they landed on Quel`Thalas. They called themself - High Elves.

well as you know Illidan was becoming one of the highborn addicted to magic and always wanted to adapt the powers of the well. well when Azshara was summoning Sargeras Illidan, Malfurion and that priest the name slipped me. went to Cenarus to get help, Cenarus advised to go and ask the dragons help. some more things happen then. now when they went back to stop the summoning illidan realized the well would be destroyed. they were going to blow it up. so he took some vials and filled them whit the wells waters. when the well was destroyed they landed on the NEW Kalimdor. all the land between was a sea now. they somehow got to Mount hajyal and started climbing it. as soon as Illidan got on the top he filled the lake/pond there whit the waters from the vials, creating a new well. Malfurion was so mad he locked up his own brother. and to protect this well the Druids planted a tree witch got natures blessing etc etc. you know the drill.

The High Elves got the lighter skin because
A) the magics changed them as it did with Malygos ((If you noticed even during the night elven era he was a high elf when in mortal form))
and
B) they adapted to the sunlight as sunlight weakens the Night Elves this way they could cast magic easier in the daytime

B)Is wrong. Night elves dont care about sunlight, because it doesnt weaken them. It is really easy actually. Night elves worship the moon, and high elves worship the sun.

Nordrassil was planted by Alexstraza. And there was a little of the Old Gods.

Ha read the book Alag it clearly states that during the day they are weakend...lemme go find a quote..1 sec "Surprisingly the daylight did not bother him." and "Illidan aside, the rest of the night elves knew that they could go no futher--not in the daylight" and there are many other quotes beside that especially in the beginning referring to "in a weaker state in the sunlight" meaning that they infact are weaker
and there is no unkown reason to why they became high elves..
Go read a)
and b)

Night elves ignore the sunlight. Im sure the book ment that Kaldorei resistance hid from the Highborne.
And the high elves first changed because of this:
After a night elf becomes a mage, he has many changes that take 1 week to occur. Its painfull, his hair and skin colours change and stuff.
Then after the Well of Eternity exploded, they had lack of magic just like terradont said.
And their final changes occured after the creation of Sunwell.

ughh ill get more quotes...one second...
"Lord Ravencrest ordered the night elves to move out the next day. It was clear that most of his follower would have preferred to march at night, but the noble would not let the demons see him as too predictable. His fighters were gradually becoming as accustomed to the sun as much as they could, even though that meant that their strength was not at its peak

hmmmmmmm idk....im just basing it off of knowledge from the writer and book...this is during War of the Ancients
thats around 10,000 years before Warcraft 3...

But it says that night elves liked to stay in the night during war because their mental and physical strength are better then daylight...but it also says that their slowly adapting to the sunlight...

Hakkar is a powerful entity in the history of Azeroth, and old god to the trolls.LoC 59 Brann Bronzebeard believes that he may be a son of an Old God or even an Old God himself.HPG 185

^ ^ ^
that isnt the right one >.<

No. Then some idiot edited it.

Look, Cenarius, Malfurion and the druids with the Night Elf rebels stormed the palace, trying to close the portal. However, while fighting Aszhara and the Highborne they needed mroe time, so Broxagar the Red, an Orc who got in the past by a rift along with Rhonin, Broxagar took a legendary axe from Cenarius and walked into the portal, he kept slaying demons until he stood upon a great hill. Finally, Sargeras came and Broxagar managed to wound him on his leg. However, Sargeras then killed him and the portal got closed and the Well of Enternity destroyed

Actually Broxagar stepped inside the portal, in one of the Legion's realms.
And when they were closing the portal, they felt that evil much darker than Sargeras is trying to redirect the Portal. It were the Old Gods.
