Wanted: Composer/Music Scout for Gaias Retaliation

As my newest invention TabReader was released now, the Gaias Team discussed adding it to the game in the upcoming 1.2 update.
http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/submissions-414/tabreader-music-interpreter-215824/

For this, we would appreciate user contribution to our resources.

What we need is a collection of GuitarPro, PowerTab or Midi-Files to include into the Gaias Retaliation Soundtrack.

Those Resources can be found at websites like www.Ultimate-Guitar.com.

For those people that are even more creative or want to contribute actual composed music tracks to us, we are always open for that!
All you need is a common midi composer program (There is lots of freeware software available on the web) and some creativity.

Looking forward to user contribution! Wouldn't it be awesome if we could add custom user-composed soundtracks to Gaias?

PS: In case you got me wrong: We don't want mp3 contributions. We need midi oder GP files in order to use them. With this, we are allowed to import almost an unlimited amount of music to Gaias without even coming close to the 8 Megabyte limitation.

Well umm... does not really suit a game soundtrack, doesn't it? It should be something that is floating, backgrounded ... more like ambient themes. Dark and sinister, but yet quite and calm music would be awesome. Of course, for battle themes, we need something aggressive.

diablo 1 music is excellent pretty sure i suggested that a while ago. Castlevania has some good music amongst it's various tracks too.

Diablo 1 is a good choice, but I feel it's too closely related to Blizzard so whats the point to go through all the work to change in game warcraft III music to another blizzard owned game? I am aware that Gaias used to use some fable music if I believe and I thought that was a good choice.

Personally I would recommend looking up music by the composer Jeremy Soule. He is a master of 'epic' music. He does the soundtrack for games such as Knights of the old republic, Guild Wars 1 and 2, Mirrowwind, Oblivioin, Skyrim, and Icewind Dale. Neverwinter Nights has some great song selections as well with many different styles to choose from

I would ultimately try find different songs for different zones. Taverns and such could have their own 'themes' etc. It would really add a big feel to the game.

Whats about the both .wav things

The first isnt realy fighting sound...maybe for end of game if happyend
The second could be for the pvp in the arena maybe

An finally you guys take this serious. :)
This was not meant as a joke ... I'm dead serious about it. If someone wants the job and can do all the neccesary work, that would be awesome.

However, mp3s and wavs itself don't help. We need .mid or .gp files (up to .gp5).
I did a quick check for some game soundtracks and didn't really find something good yet (Except for the skyrim theme, but for obvious reasons [not enough FUS RO DA in Gaias] we will not use that ;D ) ... haven't checked for neverwinter, though. I'd really love to have the Baldurs Gate I and II such as Icewind Dale and Witcher score as Midis/GPs... if someone can find those, that would be awesome!

EDIT: Castlevania was a good hint. I've found dozens of tracks when I searched that one, though most of them won't suit Gaias, I think. But some could do well. Let's see. Open for more suggestions!
EDIT2: It seems that very old and early games like SNES music or N64 games have the highest probability of successful finding midis or gp files. Let's see which scores could match. I will try out Secret of Evermoore. Awesome music.

You should really look into Neverwinter Nights every song in that game would be perfect for Gaias :] This is the Main theme song from Neverwinter Nights:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wouzlCmkjZg

but after a quick google search on ".mid songs for RPG's I found this website. I doubt any of them will be worth using for Gaias but you can always check a few out. To me some of them may be good songs but they seem too SNESy for a game like Gaias. I just don't see it fitting. If you like one of the songs you can right click the link and go to save file and you download it as a .mid

http://www.rpg-music.com/morpgs2.html

EDIT: I noticed on the side they have a tab for SquareSoft Mid's as well which are the people who make like Final Fantasy and stuff. They might have some good .mid files

Hmm ... I think most of the stuff of very old games is either situational or way to upbeat ... but there might be some hidden pearls. Squaresoft games usually had nice dark ambient scores.
EDIT: Checked some ... I could be wrong D:

What I found was this website ... pretty cool custom stuff - I think if someone can look through this database and collect some nice ambient tracks, that would be awesome (Like "The Ditch" of Michael Fonos):

EDIT2:
Omg, those pieces of Michael Fonos are incredible! You should take a listen! I think with some adjustments and good instrument sounds those would fit extremely well.

http://zoraspace.net/midi/SC2_-_Into_the_Whirlwind.mid This sounds good but i guess not epic as gaias require...

http://www.midishrine.com/ostepop/sga/Sonic_Adventure/icecap.mid another option might fit the snow terrain.
Thanks, I will look into it.

I've found some nice databases on the web that contain lots of scores of old video games and nice ambient music. We got an awesome collection now and we will see what will happen.
So far, we have over 3 hours of music tracks collected... I think we will need to sort some out. :)

Hmm, I feel those wouldn't fit gaias. They are way too ... let's call it "japanese". I think this rather poppy, pseudo-melodramatic stuff doesn't fit a dark western styled RPG.
It should be more orientated to soundtracks, orchestral scores. Find games that actually fit the overall mood. For example, lots of the dungeon tracks I selected come from Resident Evil. Awesome soundtracks with a really dark and sinister feel to them and despite that not being too "dramatic" (with over-the-top drumbeats and stuff; try to avoid that ... ambient music shouldn't have drumpatterns - with some very few exceptions).

Heres some stuff I selected. I hope it helps to get a feeling about what we are looking for.

PS: The folder names are german, forgot to translate them.
Belagerung = Siege, Dorf = Village, Friedlich = friendly, Gebirge = Mountains, Kampf = Battle, Laden & Tavernen = Shops & taverns, Mystisch = Mystical, Stadt = town

I have no time for composing something with my instruments anymore, and even for converting either.

However, I'd like to throw in my own sack of pounds.

Hurr durr.

Or here...

You'll have to click them all.

I really recommend to search for other Gothic series soundtracks.

If I remind myself of any good soundtracks, I'll edit my post or make a new one - in case if people drowned the thread in messages.

Cheers.

I'm sorry, but you didn't even read the topic opener.
But I'll highlight the line again, just for you:
PS: In case you got me wrong: We don't want mp3 contributions. We need midi oder GP files in order to use them.

I was fully aware of this, but I saw some people posting the links to soundtracks put on youtube so it didn't make any difference, it's just a source if someone wanted to recreate or convert it into midi.

I think you should implent the old oblivion music again, it just fit gaias and was epic. Another good thing on it was, that you could hear it 24/7, it was just the perfect music for a perfect rpg :) .
