Every single model on this site has an automatically generated tutorial explaining how to import that specific model. Click on the model and scroll to bottom of the page, import it get the mdx and blp(if it has any) out and change the paths to whatever it tells you to.

I know that... What I'm wondering is the skins and paths that the volcano uses... I'm not asking about the models on the site, I'm talking about a model that is already in the editor.

Because my volcano model is screwing up, so I was wondering if it was one of the paths or skins from an imported model that may be crossing with the ones from the volcano.

If you imported a volcano model and its not working you did it wrong. I dont believe WC3 models have paths and if they do you wouldn't be able to find it out with the World Edit. So that has nothing to do with WC3 its just you making a mistake somewhere. Read the tutorial for the model.

Well I don't have to, I can describe it.
What happens is that when you build it you only see the shadow and then the game closes and the fatal error window opens up.

Thats your phail importing skills kid, already said it. You did it wrong, read the tutoiral for the model. Someone switch this to solved plz.

Oh I'mm srry I thought you imported a volcano model and it was screwed up...Now how on earth could the wc3 model get screwed up, thats retarded. Only imported models dont work sometimes. May I'm wrong but the WC3 models should never be able to get screwed up or changed. Unless you were to take it and then change it with w/e programs they use to do that. But then it wud need to be imported.

Well I didn't touch the volcano, but here's my theory... You know how you can have skins right? And those skins use paths to overwrite the current skin of an already existing model and create an entirely new model. So I think that maybe one of the models I have imported, by fluke, has the same path as the skins used by the volcano and maybe that is what's messing it up. So I'm looking for the volcano paths to compare it to all the other paths I have.

And uh... Sorry for calling you a moronface, no hard feelings eh?

Hmm so the normal volcano in wc3 (without any modifications, importing etc.) doesn't show right? How are you using the model? Describe it a bit.

Shadow without the model kinda reminds me of the bug when you set a units movement speed to 0, but I'm guessing it's not that :D

Only an idiot modeler would replace a wc3 skin with a new skin for his custom model, that's a really retarded thing to do because it's useless and it screws up some other models. so I don't think any of your models override anything.

why didn't you said from the beginning you're using this as a building?

I'm very sure the problem it'n not necessarily caused by the model, but by the values in "Object Editor"

I had a similar problem when i have tried to create a buidable hunted gold mine for human.

Only the shadow appeard and a Fatal Error closing the game.

first of all, if your "Volcano" it's going to be a BUILDABLE structure, make sure it's not based on an undead structure (not that is necessarily, but it's a better way to avoid these errors) and also it won't have abilities like "Get Corpse" or others like that.

It would be great if you would post (image or text) the proprieties of your "Volcano" from Object Editor so, maybe, i could understand better what is all about.

And please, tell me....does your Volcano shows up in Editor or it won't appear in editor either?

Ok I took two pictures, one of which is the error itself and the other is what the volcano looks like in game.

We did not base the volcano on any undead structure either. And it appears as a green and black block in the editor.

Oh my god, I have not ever seen such amount of overconfidence, noobishness, and lack of knowledge in a single post. Holy shit!

1) Wc3 models DO have paths, they are necesarry to....
2) Locate them in WE, which you MUST do in order to use them and...
3) It could have something to do with wc3, if you use an alternate skin and it replaces the real one in cache
4) Model importing tutorial is automatically generated, and thus doesn't have answers to all questions, especially this one, as it's an explicit case

Back on topic. Volcano is meant to use an repleceable texture, and is not meant to be a building, but a destructible, and as such, it's got something that triggers the game to crash. Experimenting a bit in WE, or altering the volcano model should fix this, I can help you on this one once I've got my wc3 back.

How do I alter the Volcano?

AIDSasaurus, i have made a biuldable volcano myself just to check and it worked for me with no problem.

I tooked human's "Town Hall" as a base building and i only changed it's model.

No errors, no nothing, it's working perfectly (placeble and buildable)

I did the exact same freaking thing as you, there's something wrong with the actual model! And I need to find out how to fix the Model!
