Arthas unmounted deathknight... Nuff said
----------------------------------------
UPDATE #1
Parts worked on in this UPDATE:
1)Head
-No real comments on it. I really like the way it looks right now. He doesnt look like a toy like the blizzard arthas (death knight or pally version). There are small veins on the face... prolly wont be visible ingame. I like the glowing eyes, not too much work to do that though.
2)Hair
-All it really is, is a recolor for this bit because the wrap on the bottom part of the hair is too much of a wrap for me but I wanted to get the head done before I posted a WIP. Most likely to update hair.
3)Eyebrows
-Alpha-ed out... Nuff said
4)Eyeballs
-Alpha-ed out... Nuff said

Additional Comments:
Looking forward to the armor... gulp

Wombat boy:
-Aye you like my eyes its pretty easy to do... what you do is you make another layer and make a 1% opacity dot on the eyes (dont change to layer opacity) then set up a blending option for it to glow... Move the sliders to your liking and Ta-da.
-No the face is free hand lol. Superimpose the face on the original if you dont believe me. I attached a tga to make your "test" easier.
-And do you really think Im dumb enough to use a damn filter for the beard. I dont use filters lol its a fine white brush job (lots of speckles) on top of the same thing in brown. It looks alot better in other shots... and its not a beard its a five o'clock shadow...
--And please dont tell me what you think I did... I know better than anyone except maybe computer screen or stylus gnomes... Rather tell me how to improve, I didnt post it to be told incorrect ways to reproduce my work >.<

Darkholme:
Yes he does but have you seen blizzards interpretation of eyebrows? They shouldnt even be called eyebrows they are more like furry brow chodes. If I do put eyebrows on they will be 2d.

Lol, a smart person would have at least tried to learn from what I said, when I said I thought it was just a recolor you should have gathered that it looks too much like the original and tried to change it more. And the fact that I thought the beard was noise shows that you just wasted time when noise does the exact same thing you did. And the hair IS recolor. Don't act like I'm some stupid shit just trying to put you down for your work, thats not what this forum was made for. And being a skinner I don't need you to attach a freaking TGA for me. My goodness, people just aren't willing to try and learn from others these days. By the way though thanks for telling about your glow technique. Do try and learn from what others say, not just shoot it back at them.

Im basing it off of these two images

UPDATE #3
Parts worked on in this UPDATE:
1)Boots
-Worked on the boots a tad more... completely redid the tip of the boot as well as the fur.
--Problem** IT STILL LOOKS ROUGH AND CARTOONY ON THE BOOTS... I dont know what to do I may give up the whole fur bit... Its just ridiculous; You see my problem is that I can do faces too well compared to the work I do on the body of a skin, Im going to go for a cleaner boot next revision

Well I suppose I could CnP this skin on top of the death night skin and ta-da... Ill prolly have both skins in the zip when I sumbit the skin, or perhaps to seperate submissions Its too soon to tell.

Aye Im going to stray from the generic litch king armor. Far to detailed for bliz wc3 models. I mean look at the boot unwrapped and then wrapped. Looks like its not the same skin :C... and I love the boot too bad that it has no place on arthas's foot, some of the best fur/skulls ive done in awhile.

Never, EVER use noise to make a beard. Beards are easy as pie. Select the part you want to be covered with beard, copy it, down its Brightness and Contrast to -50 Brt and -40 Con. Use a spatter brush (eraser tool) with 40% opacity and tap around until you get a growing beard.

Before and after.

This might look too realistic for WC3, but experiment a little until you get what you want.

Yea, I wanna see some original ideas here, not just some copy off of that shot from the cinematic, I was hoping it would actually be just a random death knight your skinning, not Arthas, it kinda limits it when you wanna do a character

my thoughts:

i quite like the face. just the way the eye sockets are shaped'n'stuff. This has some potential, but there are a few issues that need working on first:

the metal needs highlights. the little skulls on his knees are a bit undefined, try to make em look a bit clearer.

the parts of the legguards where you used smudge looks nasty. The only time smudge is useful is when you actually want to make something look like a blurry zergblob of colour (say, for example, motion effects).

The face is too desaturated. look at your reference, he still has some colour there. the wc3 death knight is a bit purple and even EvilArthas has some colour. yes, i am aware that the campaignscreen arthas is grey as concrete, but wc3 is a colourful place. Plus, its too similar to the hair tone.

Just a thought: if there's one big thing i've learned in the last couple of years of modding, it's that skinning at 512 is problematic at best. it might look good onscreen and even in the viewer, but A) ingame it's too detailed to make anything out at ingame distance and B) mapmakers are very frustrated by the huge filesize and so have to shrink it manually, which doesn't look good.

so yeah, less smudge, more highlights, more definition
