Unit Mounting Unit Trigger

Hello once again Hive! And yes, I have another trigger question

I have seen this in some games but never actually needed to know how to do it. Well, now that Tranquil has made a mounted royal captain, I decided it would be cool if the normal royal captain in my map could mount a horse and change to that model. So heres my problem. I don't exactly know how to do that, but I know that it's a triggered spell. Could somebody tell me how to make it? +Rep for help

This is the easiest way.

To make that specific captain ride any horse, you need to edit the model, so as to remove the horse and leave the captain himself (requires new animations most likely).

There is no way to simply change the model of a unit.

However, you can do this using the Demon Hunter's Metamorphosis spell. Set the royal captain to the "normal form unit" and the mounted royal captain to the "alternate form unit".

The only problem with using the Metamorphosis ability is there has to be a set amount of time he is on the horse.


EDIT - if you use the Robo Goblin ability you can make it so the player can mount/unmount his captain whenever (it isn't timed), but it is a bit more complex to edit.

Maybe I should explain the problem a little bit more.

I want him to become the other unit when he is near a horse and uses the spell. The one on the horse would be faster and have slightly better stats. For example

I have 3 units: Royal Captain, Royal Captain Mounted, and a Horse

Whenever the Royal Captain gets near the horse and uses the "Mount Horse" spell, he becomes the Royal Captain Mounted. What would be the trigger?

Pharoah's would't really change stats and N1ghthawk's doesn't cover the near a horse part.

A question about the "create special effect" trigger: Is there anyway to change the size of the created special effect relative to the unit it's created on? Whenever I try to make new flying units this way, the flyer effect I attach is always a little too small...

There are two things you need to know about that, cleavinghammer.

1) You can go to your unit and scroll to Art - Scale Projectiles and set it to True. This way, any effect or the projectile of the attack the unit has will become twice, thrice, etc. big as the unit itself. If the unit's size is 2x, the special effect attached to it will become 2x too, if it is 1.4x, the effect will be of 1.4x size.

2) You can import the dummy model, made by Vexorian. With the way I described in #1, you can set the "Art - Scale Projectiles" to True and via triggers to attach the special effect. Before attaching the special effect (Special effect - Create a special effect on unit), make sure you add the action "Animation - Change unit size". This way, the special effect's size will be amplified, up to the size of the unit. Note: If you want to retain the size of the base unit, but only amplify the size of the effect, you need to make a model editing for that effect. By using War3 Model Editor, you can change the size of your model.

Sorry, if you want the rider's legs bent, you need model editing. This is a small trick that looks awkward, but saves you model editing. If you need greater detail, then your other option is unavoidable.

About Metamorphosis

I've a problem with metamorphosis too!
1. I need to bind a skin for the demon form but I don't know how I tried different things but nothing helped. Well I mean it worked but like a demon skin for the Illidan model! I use Denu's - Azmodan, Lord of Sin skin for that.
2. When I try to make this model the alternate model there appears a bug the base unit transforms in itself but adding more health, damage and armor and after the transformation is over it returns to his former self again increasing again his health, damage and armor but returning to Lvl 1!?!?!?!? <= This I don't understand, why does it happen and why isn't it transforming into the unit I made it to!
