No one with Windows Vista can play SC2, it's a known bug, and Blizzard have stated that it will not be fixed.

-- Are you ******* kidding me, listen to your topic, it's a half line - which hardly states what the problem is! Post some info on your system, and drivers, do you use Windows Update? for an example..

Sorry, but this is just too stupid, you must learn how to use a forum before we can help you..

Same problem here. Had everything updated, UAC disabled, SP2 DLed. However, I had a few optional updates I could download, so I'm trying that now, will say if it works.

Also, you should probably try making a thread on the Bnet forums if you can't get it to work.

You know, only people that know SHIT about computers, or people that know TOO much about computers say that Vista sucks. The people that know shit about computers, think that Vista sucks, but don't know the reason they do. They hear: VISTA SUCKS. They simply repeat it.

The "Too much" kind, on the other hand, has opinions on speed, performance, etc, and knows what to ask and what to not.

Being in the middle, i'd say it's fine. If you optimize it, it runs WAY too fast.

Back to topic.

Copying a game and attempting to run it can't hurt anything. It's how I fixed multiple problems, and knowing Blizzard with their portable, non-registry-reliant games, it's worth a shot.

I have vista ultimate 64 sp1...
And I had the same problem, the solution is simple copy and paste the dvd archives to desktop,or try to find more help in google!
Remember you not alone many people get the same error and discovery they own ways to repair.
And to finish vista has it problems but many of they can by solf with intelingent and downloads of dlls from internet...
And if dvd is protected I think maybay isent wrong download ISO with the game, just dont use genkeys or crack and it isent violation,I think, but I dont ready all the pages...

there is some kind of protection in starcraft 2. i tried to share it on my network. access was blocked to the regular sharing plus that advanced sharing didnt work either. i tried to put it in a folder that was shared. (that made it undetectable to the other pc.) the solution was to copy it to the vista pc by using the pc with xp to do the copying.

Yes; in some installations of Windows XP and Vista, it appears that you can't copy the game files once they're installed, and even if you can manage to, the other computer refuses to read them. It's like there's a permanent "read-only" tag on them. In fact, there is. If you look at the file properties, it's set to read-only. Attempt to remove that tag, and it goes back.
