Tutorial for UI making?

There isn't really any surefire way of making UIs as far as I'm concerned - maybe there is, but I haven't come across it. They way I do my UIs is to simply take the ones Blizzard made, and just paint over it on a new layer in Photoshop.

PS: I assemble the PNG versions of a Blizzard UI together to make sure I have the transparent parts so I know where to have transparency on the UI I'm making myself. It also helps to know where you need to crop them.

Firstly, I really dig your UIs, especially the tribal one.

I have been trying to edit blizz UIs for some time now hence I do understand the basics.
I use gimp to do the cnp and minor paint work. Problem is that almost everytime 'UItile03' overlaps the 'InventoryCover', and 'UItile04' is out of alignment. I try and assemble the pieces in gimp to make sure they fit perfectly but in-game everything goes haywire.

Thanks for posting btw +rep
