Can I add a Buff to a unit without the need of casting an abillity?

And, I would like to put a fog in my map, but a dark one, or even make the night appear darker.. Can I do That?

I think its all for now...thx...[/code]

As far as the buff, no you cannot create a buff without somone casting it. Its kind of wierd since you can remove buffs by type using triggers, but not assign them...

As for the fog, just go under map options and turn on terrain fog. You can then set the color and density of the fog there. You can also do the same using triggers if you plan on adding/removing fog at certain points.

I HATE THAT BUFFISSUE! would be so useful to add em with triggers :/ maybe theres a JASS way around this. but i fear its technically not possible due to the nature of buffs being some kind of... semidummi.

so far i know only 2 ways around:
1. create an invisible unit and make it unselectable. let it cast the ability on the target and remove it afterwards (annoying. but it works.)
2. give the target unit an ability which comes with a buff: an aura with range 1 perhaps. some abilities are invisible so the player wont notice. just remember that this works only once per unit unless u remove the ability again.
