Trigger Question

What I need to be able to do is add an ability to a hero, without the hero learning the ability, but able to learn it.

Phrased differently: How do I (with triggers) add a hero ability to a hero, so the ability can be learned?

I tried this with the Unit -> add ability finction, but it just added the first level of the ability to the hero, and didn't give the option to learn it, or increase it's level.

Just guessing, but after adding the ability, set its ability level to zero?
