There's some fancy maps floating about, and I've finally decided to try to make my own.

Vampire, Dark Deeds, Murder Mystery, Parasite, Werewolf, etc.

Those sorts of maps.

My favorite would have to be DD, and I've been wanting to make a map to mimic it.
Problem is, I would need triggers for that. I don't know them. :\

I pulled the warmap.j file out of it, and stuck that file into blank map to look at them.
That did not work, the map has the old melee map triggers and none of the fancier things.

Anyone know what I'm doing wrong, or what I should be doing instead?

I was thinking that World Edit Unlimited would read the blank map, but I've heard it does not work with this "latest" patch. Any ideas?

"Try makin your own stuff instead of just copying the triggers form another guy's work."

I have tried making my own stuff. Obviously that's not working out very well. :)

Instead of spending a stupidly long amount of time trying to figure things out, It'll be much simpler to look over another map and figure out what does what.

Often, figuring things out on your own is the best way to learn. You learn from your mistakes.
Learning to trigger advanced things won't happen in 1 day, I suggest you to try make a few smaller maps first to get familiar with the editor.

However, I have to agree that it's also good to look at other peoples work to see how they've solved different problems, but ultimately you're going to have to spend a stupidly amount of time to become good at it yourself.

yeah, please do it by yourself...i have been mapping for about 2 years, and ive come a very long way from noob to expert mapper. although some of my maps dont use very complex triggers (i have no need for them...yet), i still know a lotta stuff in WE.
