Hello

I have an idea for a great map. This is how it goes
There will be a hero with nothing equipped on him and uhmm everytime he picks up equipments, it also graphically reflects on his hero.
For example he gets a sword then his right hand would also be handling a sword after picking it up.
Yeah I know you know what's next and what do I mean..

My first question is:
Had there been a map like that? What is it?
2nd:
How do I start creating this map?

Thanks all!

I believe one such map was called World of Azeroth. And there was another RPG project hosted here on THW (I believe) which wanted your character to show what items he was wearing graphically.

As far as I know, all this is done using Attachment Points. You take a model which has nothing equipped, create attachment points for his hands, chest, head, and than when you pick up let's say an Axe, it would appear in his right hand due to how the attachment point system works.

So i guess first of all you will need to make up a system, which will compute what items you have picked up, what kind they are, and based on the item type where it goes on the model.

Don't quote me on this though, but I'm pretty sure that's how everyone has done it.

This post is a little late but this tutorial explains how to do exactly what you're looking to do. You can use to the Warcraft III Model Editor to create attachable models or download models that have already been made off this site.
