i downloaded a mod to turn wc3 into starcraft, and the readme directed me here...
i'm new to modding, so i need help because there doesnt seem to be any descriptive directions in the files...
thoughts?

What mod? Please post the link. It may be just a map that contains the mod in it, which is most likely. In that case, just play the map. The only mod that actually changes the whole game that I know of is the one at WC3, Revolution I believe it is called.

I have the same thing. All you do is double click on the item, click custom path and delete everything before the file name. It works perfectly except for overlord. It may not work for others, but I haven't tested everything.

As for your question, I do not know how to work with mods in Warcraft III. I've done so in BFME II, however, I don't know if it's done the same way with Wc3.
