I was just looking through the older skins on THW, and i realised that the quality of skins here have really decreased lately.
The great skins just keep getting fewer and fewer, drenched in the mass of low quality ones ;(

hmmm.....well....I think it is better to have lots of skin to browse + a few realy good from than only a few realy good.

bcuz maybe there is none....for example bat man skin that is awsome (I think it is tho). And then you can take one that is not what you call "a high quality skin" but since nobody will get a close view on batman on your map it is ok. And even if they get a close view it is better than nothing.

If I was texture artist(I'm not though :p), I would be greatly offended by this comment.. your clearly new to skinning, so who are you to judge? Just be happy that people are still contributing their works.

Eh, most good artists stay at WC3C, being scared by nabs over at the Hive... Though there are still quite a few good artists in the Hive. Artists just come and leave. I think the main problem is people criticizing skins\icons too harshly, this really doesn't gives a lot of motivation. I bet most newbs just want to hear something like "Pretty decent for a first icon\skin\model, you could improve this and that though" instead of "OMFG noob, this skin\icon\model just FUCKING SUCKS, it will never be approved!".

On that note, the majority of the people who rate and comment textures are noobs and have no idea what they are talking about. A lot of them immediately call recolor and Cnp on skins that are obviously freehand, which is probably pretty discouraging.

This is off-topic just FYI...and yes I do agree with the statements stated above.
It's just that the older gen of artists such as Erwt, Chriz, and alot of others have either retired, or moved onto modeling and skinning their custom models. No problems there, but I have seen enough new talent that is quality stuff. Just gotta get our new generation of skinners to get working on their quality and not quantity of skins..nah mean?
