What is most depressive music you've ever heard? from which band, I bet you can't find anymore dark and grim than Shining ... don't judge them by their looks, album covers or anything their songs are really sad and there are small dialogues that seriously are sinister.

Anyways, if you are into this kind of thing you should check them out ^^

I think they're funny.

Saw them live, way too theatrical, the man can moan and whine one minute then scream "HEY WHATS UP TONIGHT!!!", it's mostly fake stuff. Yet their music is good sometimes.
If you want depressive black metal, try to get some Silencer, Lifelover. Those are my personnal favorites, but you could also try Xasthur, Lurker Of Chalice (with Wrest from Leviathan if I remember well). Forgotten Tomb is also worth cheking, you could like them a lot if you enjoy Shining :)
For the french-speaking, Diapsiquir are also totally awesome, yet I'm afraid that if you don't get the lyrics, you miss a lot of the "emotion".
If you enjoy to experiment frozen thoughts from the dark and icy corners of the universe [/lovecraft], you can try Darkspace, I really love their sound, extreme, powerful, raw, intense and hopeless.

You know i've actually tried to listen Silencer, Brocken Moon and some more but well... the problem is mostly with the voices =/

Offcourse doh im used to grunts and screams but that scream from silencer just doesn't make any sense sorry it sounds like a woman getting raped or something.

The thing i like about shining is that they are depressive but also know how to mantain certain aggressive elements within it. And it's not shitty recorded.

Sure i know underground isn't that fancy and all but... some bands could be so much better when they would just improve the recording quality (Yes i know some bands do it to add atmosphere but i think they are kinda delusional..)

But i will check out those bands you named ;)

I can definitely understand what you say :)
I think Silencer's voice is somehow an acquired taste, or maybe it's something you either love or hate, I don't know. I really like what he did (there's also his project "Diagnose:Lebensgefahr").
About the record quality, I think some bands would be really less good with an excellent album sound, in my opinion, it really adds something to the atmosphere, for ex. Nehëmah (but there's loads more, I'm just currently listening to Requiem Tenebrae), I think their sound is really perfect the way it is.
If you like BM with good sound, I suppose you like Anaal Nathrakh? If you don't know them, give them a try, they rule.
I don't know if you know Deathspell Omega, it's one of my favorite bands. Their first albums are quite raw recorded, but Kénôse and Fas-Ite, Maledicti, in Ignem Aeternum manage to have an amazing sound, AWESOME lyricsvocals, huge atmospheres and a complete mastery of composition and technique. But you maybe already know them!

Yeah i know Deathspell Omega, i listened it (Not that i don't now anymore it's just that i lost my music collection switching PC's).

I also heard of Anaal Nathrakh, but i never really listened it. But i will give it a try soon, btw i think i can get into Darkspace but the other bands are a little too much like silencer i suppose. (I'm also someone that likes brutal music like Belphegor, Impiety, Legion of the Damned etc.)

Older stuff like The Last Supper and Necrodaemon Terrorsathan or also Goatreich - Fleshcult and Lucifer Incestus?

I must also admit Pestapokalypse IV and Bondage Goat Zombie could be a lot better.

But to stay on-topic i still like Shining the most of those depressive metal bands.

I like bloodbath in paradise, as well as the old one and the new one it's a pretty heavy song but still not very wild. get it? xD

About depressive black metal, i also listen to Anti (From germany) but that's because i like the instrumental parts for example the riffs from the album ''The Insignificance of Life'' and then the first song ''Nothing''. Reminds me of Behexen... they also have some good riffs which i like a lot.

Konkurs and Erotik are both lacking what Pulver has to offer IMO.

It's not that it are bad albums but i can listen any song on Pulver and say ''Yeah i could listen this over and over'' while the other two albums have a few songs here and there that are just arent catchy...

Anyways, listened Pulver over and over... also listened the other two quite some times. (Mostly picking the songs i liked).

Kinda switching to Shining again with their new album =p

I wouldn't call it depressing, it's more disgusting, but I'll say Bloodbath. A special notice goes to their lovely song "Eaten". The lyrics taste like diabetes.

I know bloodbath, i listen it. But no it's not really depressing hah =p

I do know a lot more now though...
