TFT 1.19-1.26-era balance map pack

This is a pack of maps i made about 6 years ago and posted exclusively on reddit for some reason.

I didn't post this in the custom maps section, since I'm not sure how relevant it is to people here, but someone messaged me asking me to re-upload these, so here they are.

Basically the purpose of this map pack is to preserve the state of balance of the 1.26 version of WC3, so you could play with this balance on the latest official war3 client. Around the time of Reforged's release, I wasn't too sure about a lot of the changes to the balance that were being done, so I didn't want the version I was familiar with to be lost to history.

The 1.25/6 balance is a noteworthy part of WC3's history, as it is the balance that to date lasted the longest in the game's history before being changed.

It's also when I was watching pro games, and really trying to learn the game proper. Grubby, Moon, Fly, Infi, Sky, those guys, were all in their prime in this era, and it was exciting to watch.

Perhaps the most significant 'customization' in these maps is me re-implementing the pre-1.30 Defend behavior. Since it's on purpose, rather than a bug, I'm not sure if it's exactly the same as it was then, but I think it's pretty close.

Besides 1.25, there's a few maps in the pack that use 1.19 and 1.22 balance. Those have some nostalgia for me too, since that's when i started dabbling in 4v4 team games. Before the 1.25 human tower nerf, there was a hilarious strategy in the 3v3 map, Highperch, where one team would blockade the chokepoints with towers and then use various abilities and a Tiny Great Hall to climb up to one of the cliffs with fountains, and set up a towered 'perch' there. As far as I know, this strategy has caused the world record for longest war3 melee game, about 4 days.

This is not something I'm actively developing - and I'm not sure if it really strongly classifies as modding/map-editing related since it's basically just object data from ~15-20-year-old versions of war3 dumped into reforged-compatible maps. To me it feels more related to 'melee discussion' than to 'custom maps'. However if it should really be in Resources instead of here, let me know and I can post it there instead.

Known Issues

Let me know if anyone's interested in these maps and I can try to fix these when I have time.

  • Some tooltips aren't right (ex. Defend)
  • Some tooltips display incorrect numeric values. (ex. Lumber Harvesting)
  • Defend custom script code is needlessly overkill - but I don't think it significantly impacts performance since it's mostly Bribe's code and there aren't any other custom systems.
  • Human Barracks can research Sundering Blades even though Knights won't use it.
  • Arcane Vault is selling Orb of Slow instead of Orb of Fire.
  • Spirit Walkers are in the Tauren Totem instead of the Spirit Lodge.
  • Skeletal Longevity upgrade is missing.
  • Hippogryph Taming can't be researched even though it's required for Hippo Riders.

Is it ROC as well or just TFT?
My focus is on the ROC preservation

Oh I see.

The attachment I put in the OP was just TFT.

The 'RoC' part of this old 'Unforge' project was itself a mod specifically developed for version 1.31 of War3. I don't think that's playable anymore so I don't think it has much use.

However, my understanding is that w3champions provides Reign of Chaos maps that most likely do a better job of recreating the 'Reign of Chaos' gameplay than my own mod did. So that's probably the way to go.
