[Spell] Target ability with no buff?

I need an ability that targets a unit, but doesn't apply any buffs. I've tried several abilities but it always applies the original's buff, even if I remove it in the object editor. I can't find an ability that doesn't have a buff, but I'm probably missing something.

Have you tried Channel? It allows you to target a unit, a point or an area and doesn't apply a buff?

You can also make a fake buff, especially if its duration is gonna be something like 0.1 seconds.
For example give the ability a fake Faerie Fire buff where you remove everything from that buff, including the name, the icon, the attachment point etc...
Remove the name after adding the buff in the ability.

This is an alternative I use to what Remixer said. Although I only use it for buffs that last less than a second but I assume it shouldn't cause any issues if it lasts for a minute for example.

Alternatively you can just trigger it so the moment a unit finishes casting the spell, the buff gets removed from any units.
