Hello there!
1st things 1st, I am well aware there is a plethora of posts regarding this. I post because throughout the 10+ posts I following, I found no real answer, only try this, try that, this worked for me but maybe it wont for you, and a lot of abstract answers basically amounting to "just fiddle with different stuff and pray", which I did a lot of already. What is crazier is these posts range from 2021 to 2025 and now for me (1st time this happens), 2026...
Has there been any progress in this? I've done all the obvious things (scan&repair, reinstall, delete settings file, change region, disable antivirus, firewall exceptions, clean pc, run admin, run in compatibility)
Please someone, enlighten me...
I also want to note I sent a support ticket to blizz, to which they responded with a copy-paste answer of a basic list of steps all of which are included in the things I tried. When I told them this didnt fix anything and I believe the problem was related to a patch I downloaded (this was 28Feb or something close to that), they answered with the EXACT SAME COPY-PASTE list and listed the topic as "answered"(!!!!!!!), which I find so incompetent it ends up being hilarious. I'm pretty sure the community would do a way better job in maintaining this game than the company gaining its profits.. I would ask a rhetorical "what the hell is blizz doing" but from browsing the forums I get we're all aware they're doing nothing.
Anyway sorry for the rant.. does anyone pleaaase have anything on this?

To add a bit context because I just realized I only mention the problem in the title. Game was working perfectly well, wake up the next day, see a patch download, start game -> I press play and the game straight up doesnt even start, with the play button being enabled again. After some fiddling -> now perma stuck on Lion Door. I try all of the "fixes" blizzard sent me and anything I can find in the forums -> am now stuck on a black screen (even in windowed mode, there rest of the screen is ok, the game is black). At some point inbetween all of the fiddling, I try to run the game through world editor and it tells me I "cant execute the wc3.exe app" and "no access to this application" at another point.
UPDATE: After reading that it might help to have the game installed on C drive, I uninstalled and installed again on C drive where windows are... We are back on square one with the play button saying launching and then going back to "Play" with nothing happening. Trying to run the game from the retail folder says "Invalid access to memory location."
