Stature
Technical Description:
Stature is an altered-melee map, more accustomed to classical RTS-series such as Age of Empires and Command & Conquer than the Warcraft RTS series (more specifically the latest iterations, Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne). Instead of harboring powerful hero units, gaining experience and collecting and purchasing items or loot—you will simply outsmart your opponent using differing combinations of units and strategies. There will be little-to-no emphasis on role-playing and total emphasis on strategic gameplay.
Storyline:
Stature will be using a Gothic setting, but will feature no formal storyline as it is a purely multiplayer mod. The inspiration for the art style, strategy, and tech-trees all come from Medieval Europe and the imaginings of Leonardo Da Vinci.
Factions:
Stature’s factions will be more or less based off of one base, standard tech-tree and will differ merely in having some special units and/or upgrades. For example, one faction would have an archer, and another a crossbowman with more accurate, powerful attacks. The archer would be the standard unit, and the crossbowman a faction-specific special unit. Most main units that are shared between factions will go by the same name, with the exception of key units such as workers.
Phases:
Stature's presumed game-length will be chosen at the game’s start with the amount of phases permitted, with each phase lasting five minutes. Each phase that passes will drastically change the way the game is played. For instance, the first and least altering phase might change the weather or add a scout unit to each player’s arsenal; while the second would release a pack of rabid wolves, which would patrol the map searching for food. Each effect would only last the length of the phase, so the effects will not stack and become too overbearing. The third phase, however, will always unlock ‘Titan’ units for each player, allowing them to produce a massive, game-changing unit with devastating attack capabilities and defensive maneuvering. Phases can also be turned off at the start of the game, allowing for unlimited play without any consequence of altering factors, and having Titans available to you as soon as you unlock them from your tech-tree.
Creeps:
There will be no creeps at the beginning of the game, but as mentioned above some may enter later due to phases.
Strategic Points:
There will be one strategic point per player, each one granting the player a steady flow of income as well as a basis for workers and base to return gathered lumber. Destroying a player and conquering a player will result in the consuming of his income and the reception of a new base and workers.
