[General] Sound set question

If I want to try using custom sound sets, do they have to be .wav files or can they be mp3 files?

I do think yes but mp3 is also plausible or is accepted by wc3 but wav is really suggested. WAV has also a more of a higher quality than mp3 I do know.

WAV is horribly big in its size . they'll take more space from the map's file .Well if i suggest mp3 becuz they are smaller

Well, the sound files I have were originally .mp3 I just converted them to .wav because I thought that's what sound files are supposed to be. But since .mp3 is plausible and the quality doesn't improve even if I convert them to .wav, I'll try importing them as mp3.

.Wav is horrible because of its massive size. Basically try and use .mp3 at all times.
