So... map crossing, is it possible?

I've been working with the Data Editor and haven't yet started doing anything with the Trigger Editor, so I'd like to know from someone who's worked with it if crossing between maps (multiplayer campaign feature) is, after all, possible.
I took a look at Actions and found the Preload Map action, now I'm wondering if it works for multiple players.

Blizzard did say they were going to support it. People have said it is possible (but that was many patches ago).

However I have yet to see it used in multiplayer so can not say for sure. The only way to know for sure is to stage a simple test between 2 quickly made maps online or to wait until a map comes along which does use it.

I do know however that many RPGs like Zerg Hunter RPG plan on using multi map support (even if it does not force preloading and immediate transiction).

you can make parts of a giant map off-limits until a condition is met, to simulate this. they did this in the tactics tutorials

Yes but blizzard distinctly promissed multiplayer campaign support a while ago.

Thus one should be able to start a map and move on through many maps and then join in where you left off in a new game all via banks.

How exactly does this map splitting work? You have a 256x256 scenario, two similarly terrained landscapes and lock the camera bounds in specific regions?

Yes, like how the secret mission does it (check final horner campaign mission).

This was also used in night special forces as a user made example.

It works.
The Stargate team did it in Beta as well as in release.
Can't help ya with it though, I was never a trigger editor on their team.
