Signs TD BETA 2.1

This bundle is marked as useful / simple. Simplicity is bliss, low effort and/or may contain minor bugs.

General Info:


General:


This is a basic TD with 4 difficulties, create towers to stop invaders from reaching the portal.
As the game advances, you can choose different signs to create new towers.
The signs are: Aquarius, Aries, Capricorn and Sagittarius.
The more signs you have, the more towers you can create and combine - this will be a good addition for defending the portal.
Every tower can be upgraded.

Tips/tactics:

(Spoiler!)

Start off with 1 ice tower and 3 guard towers - when you have anough money (during the level), build another guard tower.
After that, upgrade the archer towers and the ice tower (so it has a bigger splash).
After you can choose signs, it is up to you to choose which sign you want and which tactic you want to apply.

Commands:

  • -Lvl: see the special levels (e.g.: Air)
  • -kick [color]: Kicks the specified color from the game. (Red Only)

Game Modes:

  • Noob: Creeps have 50% HP - You start with 75 lives
  • Easy: Creeps have 75% HP - You start with 50 lives
  • Medium: Creeps have 100% HP - You start with 25 lives
  • Hard: Creeps have 100% HP - You start with 5 lives

General

General:
  • I've taken care of the hive'sdescription, so I won't say anything about that...
  • The in-game description and the loading scren have to be improved! (say what the bonus archers do, when the levels are, any info you can add and make it look better).
  • The map contains bad english (e.g.: "Payd" should be "Paid", "buggs" should be "bugs").
  • This isn't original... at all. signs = elements => elemental TD

Gameplay:
  • I liked the bonus archers
  • The game was running smooth, I didn't experience any problems.
  • The game seemed to be balanced and you can play solo as well as with full house.
Terrain/Objects

Terrain:
  • Even though the terrain was flat and contains few doodads, I like it...
  • You can add a lineair fog, though (in the "options" screen, or triggered).

Objects:
  • The tooltips were very bad, an example of a better tooltips is added below.
  • The damage didn't look good (I think 40-50 looks good, for example - 37-41 and 500001-500001 is ugly).
  • The attack/armor types can be improved.
  • It's better to base a builder off an acolyte (so it automatically summons).
  • The burning oil requires an upgrade, which isn't available.
  • The amount of towers can be improved.
Overall

Your English isn't really good, the objects were "ugly" (the damage, the tooltips), some hotkeys were mixed up, the game isn't original, yet it has it's good points...
The terrain, as plain and empty as it is, is rather appealing...

Reason:

I wasn't really convinced for the 3/5, since this is basically Elemental TD, but worse.
I've rated it for this version + the next version, probably.


The Guard tower is a basic structure, good for starting off

I like this a lot more than the previous version.
You've just changed a few names (water -> aquarius, ... ) and it gave a totally different look.
There were some missing buttons, you should really change those (the combination icons) and there were missing DISBTN's (all custom icons).
You should also set the sell value to 75% of the total value, instead of 75% of the last upgrade.
You'd better change the message "You must summon towers upon blight" to something else.

The tooltips are improving, but still not good, you should add colors for it (like in my example).
You've also set special to "[None]" if the tower has splash, splash is something you should add there (+ the AoE)
The builder isn't based off an acolyte, so it still doesn't summon the buildings.
No fog has been added (I only saw "The sun is shining brightly", but it never changed to anything else).
The hotkeys from the Glaive Thrower and Guard Tower are still mixed up.
You should manually set the button positions (from cheap to expansive for te builder, in the correct order for the upgrade tower).
I would really like to see your triggers, though, since it's still a RoC-map, the triggers must be pretty low-quality (unless you've converted it to RoC).
I hope you've fixed the leaks ;)

The damage still doesn't look good and the cooldown isn't always correct, for example: if the Aries Cannon 3 really has 0.01 cooldown, he would do 14.100 damage per second.
That isn't the case I think, so he probably has about 0.05-0.10 cooldown.

The Damage Aura (and speed aura probably) increase the damage/speed by more than 40% (unless you are saying that 40% from 19 is 16...).

As you can see: there are still a lot of bugs which should be removed, good luck ;)

edit: the later invisibility/air levels are also way too easy and you might want to reduce the collision size of all creeps.

Okay I've played the game, and here's what I would have to say:

The Gameplay The gameplay is no different than most td's, it's about defending something, by building towers and various things, this td sets itself apart from other td's due to the fact you can combine signs. The gameplay itself is actually okay.

Pros and cons
Pros [+]
There's alot done to balance the game depending on it's players [+] Technicality
The game is different from a normal td [+] Technicality & Diversity
There is various game difficulty settings, making the game playable several times [+] Fun Factor & Technicality
There is a bonus boss, and a sort of mini-game [+] Technicality
The terrain varied and there was many doodads [+] Visual Effect

Cons
There is some serious unbalanced gameplay (Tower's gold cost vs. the damage they do, increase of hp per level etc.) [-] Fun Factor
There's several places you can't build [-] Fun Factor
There was several spelling mistakes, although it was readable, it ruined the game abit [-] Technicality
The towers you could build, was uneccessary after a certain point in the game (Could be due to very easy gameplay difficulty).
There was no sharing gold system, could be bad due to bonus bosses [-] Imbalanced

Said in other words, the game is good, the idea is good, and the gameplay is the one lacking. What I experinced was, when I first got my dual tower I needed only to build that one, other towers were uneccessary. Evidently this makes the game rather dull. Plus I experinced some serious issues according to achieving my other sign towers and the gold cost of that. To get a tower that did twice as little damage, as another tower I had to pay double the price. This simply vouges against all logicks.
On a scale from 1-10 I would give the following:
Terrain: 10/10, Best as it can be for a td
Gameplay: 5/10, I've seen better
Triggers: 5/10 Haven't looked, but I guess they're okay
Difficulty: 10/10 You can pick from a lot of different settings.
Scaling: Terrain 1.15, Gameplay 2, Triggers 1, Difficulty 2.
10*1.15+5*2+5*1+10*2 = 36,15
36,15/100, I would rate this map 5/10, since it is okay, but lacks some parts.
