Semi permanent +hp buff

What would be the best way tro add a +1000hp buff to a unit until they leave a zone. I was looking into using a research that applys the HP, but I found you cannot remove the Hp after the hero leaves an area??

Why can't it work? Make an ability based off Night Elf's Thorns Aura and set Targets Allowed to Self only. When your unit enters the area, give them both the Thorns Aura custom ability and the ability of type Item Life Bonus. When it leaves, remove both of the abilities. The Thorns Aura will play the role of a buff.
