scripting spells

I'd like to script a spell for a game I'm working on.
Here's the spell idea.
A random unit is created from 4.
The random unit will "throttle" the enemy causing damage and killing the unit.
Here's the catch: if the unit is one unit, (the brown minion) it does melee damage. If the unit is the red minion it will cause fire damage. If it a green minion it will cause a poison to plague the enemy for 10 seconds(five damage/second) and if it's a blue it will heal the caster. I believe this may be possible in a (few) simple trigger(s) but whether it's possible by trigger or only by jass please help. Also I know very little about programming in general so before I hit the coding tutorial forum I wanted to post this in case it's only possible by jass.
