A magnificent building
I was helping a buddy from the Warcraft Community learn how to model; he wanted to make the Scarlet Monastery as his 2nd or 3rd modelWhoa, where did THIS come from? Fantastic work! Good to see you around, Dave!
If I may make a couple of suggestions - a standard "Stand Work" (glowy windows / door, yellow particles) would be swell, and you could add a trunk to the bushes so that any that are floating "above the ground" (due to terrain elevation) become small shrubs or trees instead. The building as a whole needs more of an underground base like the rest of the structures in WC3 so that building it on steep terrain looks fine.
Tough break for your friend.I was helping a buddy from the Warcraft Community learn how to model; he wanted to make the Scarlet Monastery as his 2nd or 3rd model
Alas, his got corrupted and he felt the first real pang of modeler's pain, so I felt moved to make it for him so he can try his hand at a simpler model
I knew I was forgetting something; thanks for catching that!
I'll get on that tomorrow
Right now I'm editing part 3 of the Modeling Tutorial, and it's soul-crushing @u@
4 hours of work so far for a roughly 20 minute video
I wish I was skilled enough to make it at the time to help out xDGod, I wish I had this when making my Scarlet Crusade map TToTT
Good catch!I love this amazing design, the fountain and the corridor especially, great job here! Not sure why the orcs build it on the screenshot (joking) the only thing I'd change is the bush textures, just to make them look more classic-styled, and make the window more round and maybe the roof cones mosaic less detailed so it looks equally detailed in the entire ensamble like Bakr does, maybe I'm diving into perfectionism too much here, but this is absolutely a 5![]()
A collaboration will be amazing!!! I hope my internet connection stop fluctuating.Good catch!
My model-testing map Altdorf got corrupted, so I started using one of Rexxar's campaign maps
- Describe classic; I was using the Elwynn Foliage texture because it looked like the bushes the monastery has around it in WoW
- The roof cones were a bit of a pain, I'll admit. I'm wondering what to do about their trim so it doesn't look poorly wrapped :x
- I'm going to try and work with @bakr in the future, he's easily the most talented building-maker I've seen
Oh, nice to hear that, your tandem might be insanely good

Yeah, it's always WoW vs Warcraft in terms of graphics, because Blizz didn't give us such templatesI was using the Elwynn Foliage texture because it looked like the bushes the monastery has around it in WoW

I used some re-wrapping magic for the roof scales and also made the window more round, have a look:

I left the amount of the geosets the same, no worries, just need to sanity check this again.
Oh, I'm definately not a creator hereEyy, good call!
I'll update the texture accordingly - your spires look way better
*Edit
Opened them both side-by-side, aligned the textures; I saw what you did with the window and did the same with mine, it should be more round than stretched now
Would you like to be listed as a creator?
