I'm going to miss the Desperation mechanic on the Scarlet Crusade units, it made them cowards in a good way.
They won't be missed by me. That entire mechanic boiled down random self-debuffing abilities.
Holy warriors, true warriors of the Light!
I can say that Scarlet Crusade is getting more popular nowadays: new custom race, new campaign featuring Ashbringer, Chinese campaign about Scarlet Crusade...
What can I tell, @Wa666r, about your altered melee "Scarlet Crusade" interpretation?
- I liked this gameplay, especially getting free cheap-militia unit "hound" from farms. In my showcase, I had run with them nearly whole video - they are quite good for free unit.
- Using banner mechanics... Maybe I was lucky, or it seems that micromanaging the banner is not required at all? Kinda, I put a banner or two on my warriors and forgot about it. Having a free aura boost is always nice.
- Overall, I feel that this race is quite strong just from the early game: free hound unit, free bloodlust on every non-caster unit, powerful Whitemane-like hero (why her healing wave is so wacked? Why can I not cast it on my units directly but with lesser power?). Also, having decreasing damage taken from all undead is kinda cursed in a 1vs1 match against undead. But it's lorewise, so why not?
I think that "Scarlet Crusade" altered melee race is kinda wacky and should have some balance in terms of free hounds from farms.
But it's up to you.
Anyway - another cool custom race, like and recommend it to anyone who wants to purge infidels from sacred lands.
Thanks for the showcase! That was quick.
Lotsa folks like Scarlet Crusade I suppose. I'm just going down the list and revamping my older works.
The Hounds are pretty nifty. They're good for early game, but fall off in mid to late game since they can be dispelled.
Well, to be fair, you only played against some computers, and it's impossible to get the dull breadth of a faction in one go. I made it easier to micromanage the banners, most just boils down to right-clicking and giving the banner to the proper units.
The bloodlust does come with a downside of extra damage taken, so there's a tradeoff. I thought about letting her cast it on allies as well, but I don't think it fits as well thematically. I like the idea of her taking the life force from an enemy and distributing it. Plus, the ai wouldn't use it on allies.
Lorewise, they hate undead so I wanted to bring just a little of that.
Balance... its fun-balanced. Like I said before, there just aren't enough people and feedback on balance for me to make my custom factions be inline with the vanilla.
