Hello.. Actually I have been working on this idea since a while ago (sorry it's only wall of texts but I promise it will worth your time reading):

General Idea

It's only a normal melee map, using blizzard's maps or custom ones in hive, but turned into an RPG...
So how does it become? Basically, we will take a role as a worker (peasant/wisp/acolyte/peon) depending on your team faction (randomized just like melee map). Yeah, we will have such an unsignificant role, at least at first. You have to help your faction to win the battle by being a good worker (gathering resources, repairing damaged structures, helping building constructions, etc). Only that? No! You can turn your worker into a soldier as well! Even tho it will take a lot of times to be a decent fighter, given how weak they are at first.

You can gain experiences by doing tasks like mentioned above (gathering resources, etc) and also by killing creeps or enemy troops (it worth significantly more xp btw). At first of course you can't hunt neutral creeps by yourself, you have to wait for your faction to prepare their troops and join them to hunt creeps, or even to raid enemy faction base. You will get shared XP whenever your faction kills something, but only if you contributed some damages on it. But you will obtain significantly more XP if you land the killing blow.

When you level up, you will gain attribute and skill points. Attribute points can be used to increase either your HP/MP/MS/damage/armor. While skill points can be used to learn/level up skills, for instance, your gathering skill: you will gather faster and can carry more resources; or building/repairing skill to fix/construct building faster, so it will advantage your faction. You can also learn more advance skills after reaching certain level, either supportive or combative ones. You can build your worker in several ways: focusing on being an awesome worker (focuses on MS & gathering & building skills) or being supportive/offensive combatant. There are 3 types of learnable skills: active offensive skills, supportive skills (heal, etc.), and passive skills. Each race has different available skills.

There's also quest system given by your faction at any moment randomly. For instance, a gathering quest: collect certain amount of resource or even a hunting quest. You will be given rewards: personal gold & lumber, merits, XP, and even items if you complete a quest; You don't get considerably too much XP by doing those tasks, but you will get a lot of it if your faction win the battle. You will get some extra XP too even if you are defeated. Don't worry, even tho it's slow the XP system is collective, means you can save your progress and continue it on the next games (gold, lumber, etc will also be saved). You see, if you have higher level worker you will give significantly more chances for your faction to win.

And yes, you have your own personal finance (gold & lumber) by working on quests. You can use it for buying items and equipment. This is only an idea yet probably later you will be able to train and own your own merchants. Btw, if you gather gold & lumber in normal means, it will be fully contributed to your faction.

And lastly but not least, there's rank system. You can be promoted to higher ranks by collecting merit points. Merit points can be gained by completing quest and by murdering enemy heroes, and by winning matches. Higher ranks will give you more privileges. For example, at first you won't be allowed to start any building construction. But at higher ranks you are allowed to build some defensive towers, but using your own materials of course (tehee~).

Other Details
It's going to be multiplayer. Each faction can support 1-2 players, depending on the available player slot, for instance a 12 players melee map can be turned into 8 players RPGM (4 slots for faction controller, 8 slots for players, 2 players for each faction); 4 players melee map can be turned into a 2 players RPGM (2 slots for faction controller, 2 slots for players, 1 player for each faction) and so on. Basically any melee map with even player slot can be converted into RPGM map with minimum effort using my system cluster.

Each match will last much longer than regular melee maps. Structures HP are significantly increased, gold mine will possess a lot more golds, neutral creeps respawn, etc. It allows player to venture and do more things in a single match. That's also why winning a match can be very rewarding.

Actually that's all not just an idea, I've mostly finished with most core systems. All's left is adding quest and save load system.

I'd like to know about what do you think of the concept? And how many are bored of being super power and want to feel small and powerless yet want to strive to achieve true domination through some efforts? Ideas and suggestions are very welcome too.
