i just dl gmax and i want to edit some mdx models. i need to know what tools do i need to convert the mdx to a compatible file for gmax and the links were can i find them ty

You will need the Dex Script which will allow you to export the model from gmax and open it in word pad and you'll need any old mdl to mdx converter. I use War3 File Converter.

If you read what he asked about, you will see he wanted a importer not an exporter script..

There is no script to gmax that let you import mdx into max with animation. I remember when I used gmax there was a script that could import mdx but without animations.

War3modeleditor- EDITS, just bout everything, cept createing planes and stuff from scratch
Warshape- ANIMATEING easier than war3modeleditor
GIMP- Textureing
Vertex Modifyer- adding/removeing parts, such as shields and weps
