Hey guys, I have a bunch of custom models that I want to be Team Coloured but have no idea where to start, as I've never skinned before nor can I make models.

almost all of the models use in-game textures since they're attachments.

Can anyone teach me how to do it with a serious of screen shots and explanations?

i.e create a tutorial

well you know how to UV?,

from there, clear is where teamcolor will show
then open your model in war3modeleditor.exe (from tools here)
then go to windows/texture
create new, edit it, make it textureId1 (i think thats teamcolor)
next go to windows/materialmanager click the material then you right click the material and add a new layer, then make the new layer use the texture
then make sure that the new layer is on top
it should look fine in war3modeleditor

Hmm, the game I'm making has a lot of attachments in it and I recently added Dye (to change your team colour) however every 9/10 of the attachments don't have team colour so I'm looking to add it to the ones I have permission to do so.

well thanks for the help everyone, I'll start fooling around and see if I can get it done.

Edit: also, the healing fountain effect is not the only ability it works on, it also works on other auras, and certain item abilities like the armour buffs or regens.

I tried to follow a tutorial on UV mapping and got left with this weird white bone structure with all black background http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/...-uv-map-existing-wc3-file-use-skinning-88596/

is that what I was supposed to do? I'm fairly lost.

I followed your steps and understood them, they of course didn't work out too well since I don't know about the UV thing at all. Ah well, I'll keep searching for more info.

Edit: and yeah, a lot of my items are based off different things but all of them with team colour display correctly. Just have to add the trigger to change the colour of the unit and you're set, attachments will change with colour but will start off red when you buy them, but I think healing fountain does that too.

Double Edit: After fooling around with the steps Bloody gave me I managed to get a couple of the models to have Team Colour! thanks all.

If you want to teamcolour something, you first have to do the steps that turds told you, but you also have to make sure the texture layer has an alpha channel so that the team colour may shine through. As soon as you've fixed alpha (through photoshop, unless it already has one), you should open the material layer that holds your texture (not the tc) and set it's filter mode to blend.
