reducing model size/quality

how do you make a model file smaller in kb?

ive been wanting to do this and i read a model comment somewhere, he said you could reduce model quality which would dramatically reduce size with warcraft 3 image viewer.

i have warcraft 3 image viewer but i cant find where you could save it with less quality or something like that.

i can reduce quality of skins and icons with WARcraft 3 image extractor 2, i'd like to reduce models now as well

could someone tell me how to use w3v for this or another way, thanks

perhaps it is a different program that was being used; or the comment spoke of the skin that is put ontop of the model
