The one glaring issue with your rain is that it is barely noticeable, though the problem might just be with the way you screenshot the model. Seeing in game might turn out to be more fruitful. Either way, this could be one merit for the old rain model.

In-game looks much better than a still capture tbh. You can always increase opacity of the texture for desired visibility as well.
