So, hey, it's been ten years since I did some Warcraft III mapping. Now with Reforged having been announced though there seem to have been some major updates to the editor. Vjass seems to be a core part of the editor itself now even? Can anyone fill me in a bit or point me to the right direction?

Yes

Currently next to that not much is different from before. Sure there are some new natives which are very useful, but that is really it for now.

Features like LUA support are coming in the future, in typical "soonTM" fashion.

Seriously? vJASS is now part of the default editor?

I am also looking forward on Lua as a scripting alternative.

Oh thank you. What's the editor / IDE people use these days? Coming from Java now working without an IDE is hard, especially considering I remember very little of JASS syntax.

Currently there is none. Hopefully one gets added soon. For help with finding natives one can use third party applications like JassShopPro or JassCraft but I am not sure if they know the vJASS syntax.

Has anyone made a map of the new natives in action?
I noticed the special effects triggers like changing their size, offset, and color near the unit - action section
I've been making good use of the Extended tooltip modifier and the modify unit max health/mana (Tome of mana!!!)
My game takes advantage of these new natives, which makes my map playable for 1.29 onwards
