[General] question about selection.

Nichilus is right, the short answer is to just give the important unit a higher "Stats - Priority" value. The complete answer which unit is first in the selection tab is quite complicated but "Stats - Priority" is dominant value.

I think 0 is lowest priority. This is for determining combat I believe?

So when enemy units have an option to engage one of your units, I believe they will attack the units with higher priority if possible.

Need clarification on this though. I could be wrong.

Stats - Priority can range from 0 - 20. The lower the value, the less important it is. 0 will be attacked last, and 20 will be attacked first, as it is seen as a greater threat.

As for your question. When you highlight two or more units, they will be put into a specific order based on their priority. highest to lowest.

Example:
You pick 2 units. Footman and Sorceress.
Footman has no active abilities apart from "Defend".
Footman has stat priority 6.
Sorceress has active ability "Heal"
Sorceress has stat priority 8.
Sorceress will be picked as the "main" unit, and allowing you to use it's abilities. Or as you put it: The Sorceress will be the important one. :)

I usually put something like this:
Heroes - High
Units with multiple active abilities - Medium
Units with no active abilities - Low

Hope it was helpfull :)

sethmachine and shaMewalkeR are wrong,
"Stats - Priority" has nothing to do with combat aggro priority.

It determines the combat aggro priority for melee AI as far as I know.
If it works or if it's buggy I don't know, but that is the intent of it, if I am not mistaken.

Stats - Priority (Integer)
Defines at what point the unit/building/hero will be attacked when within a group of units/buildings/heroes being attacked. The values entered can range from 0 to 20, with 0 meaning that the unit/building/hero will be attacked last, and 20 meaning that it will be attacked first.

EDIT: After playing around with it in the world editor, I am having a hard time forcing the AI to obey the priority that I set for it. Seems like the AI is attacking whatever is closest, and doesn't care about the actual priority. Looks like Ezekiel12 might be right after all. Either that or the AI is just retarded. My bad. Anywho, thanks for clearing that out, +rep.
