question about map file size for multi play

I know there is a limit to the file size for maps for online play, but i wanted to make an rpg campaign with alot of features I am only in the early stages and already can seethat my map file will probably be too big, but I wanted to kno if there was a file size limit for playing custom maps on lan connection? If not I can make my map mostly single player but at least multiplayer on lan so you can still share the game with a friends.

LAN has same limit as battlenet which is 8MB. Making a map of 8MB size without resorting to custom content is near impossible.

You can use Vexorian's Optimizer to decrease the file size.
This also protects a map, so be sure to always have a back-up or two!

Also, don't add too much random imports (imports are good, but only if they actually have to do with the map instead of just being cool).
And RPG's don't need music, so you don't need that.

assuming the optimizer is used whatsthe likelyhood you can hve a campaign wit more than 1 map that will be playable over lan?

You can not host campagins. You would have to break it into separate individual maps (like the hosted project which enhanced the WC3 campaign did).
