Its actually very helpful! since doom also disable cast spell, now i wonder how to disable ability from item to activated/using it only, but not regular spell
Should be pretty easy, but would affect all units owned by a player at once. Edit the item ability in the OE and give it a techtree requirement of some unit-type. Give all players one such unit on map init and save them into a unit array or a unit group; this will allow them to use the item abilities 'by default'. When you want to disable the item abilities, remove that player's requirement unit from the map so the requirements are no longer met (or change the owner of the unit to Neutral Passive or something). When you want it to be re-enabled, create another such unit for the player or change ownership back.
