The idea is very good, tho it might need some changes to fit LoA, for example loa has no bosses neither does it have volcanos (heh, and Larva is pretty much the same as carterpillar... i think u mean Lava...) and if you are a member of the horde you cant walk into the dwarven city and ask for explosives... it would be insane :D

Not to be rude, but the phrase "time is of the essence" seems over-used in games such as these.

If you want your game to be loved, you will need to add special twists and play-on-word scenarios that haven't been taken before.

Comedy is often an eye opener - if your game is dreary and all the quests involve "the old [commonly used unit] needs [not-very-creatively-named item(s)] for his potion/invention", people won't read through your hard work! - but with COMEDY....

"The crazed Witch Doctor, Kara-Jinji, recently lost her favorite Stuffed Bear, and, due to Separation Anxiety, is wandering about the local woods, driving [local neutral animal units] mad with her spells and potions... Her hut resides in the general northeastern direction, near two suspiciously fragrant mushrooms.

That story was a bit too far-fetched, but I hope it gives you an idea of what i'm getting at. :D

P.S. Did my [Brackets] throw you off? If they did, I'll be sure to make my future posts more clear. :D

personaly to much joking spoils the rp in games..

maby there will be some fun things, but personaly i mostly find thing like, when they lead to somthing and you need to think funny..

We is going to try to make this as good as we can for roleplaying, and for normal play. But if somthing is gonna be fun it aint gonna be like you said, dont think anyone in the loa team has that kind of humor..

Well, that's very true too. RPing value is a must in a game like this. I just really like the idea of comedy in RPGs. :D

~*Suggestion*~

Name: The Berry Master
Client: Don Lenard
VIPs: Don Lenard, Valad, Kalad, and Galahad (those are some of the most godly names i've ever come up with so don't go tossing them around to everyone you meet, in the case that you don't use my suggestion!)
Objectives: Dol Lenard, the greedy owner of [blank] has heard of the recent outburst in peasants picking berries from the shrubs in his estate/land/area-of-ownership.

Don Lenard: "Personally, I've always ignored the berry bushes. I have no use for them, and thought them to be poisonous for quite some time... I want you to meet with one of the most prominent peasants of the land - Kalad. Force him to give you information about my berries.

When you meet with Kalad, you certainly don't act forceful towards him - you know Don Lenard for his agressive personality, and have decided not to follow in his footsteps.

Kalad: Well, there's a simple answer to that. We get minimal food and supplies, and as any human should be, the other peasants are hungry! Until Don Lenard either raises our food supply, or decides to take drastic measures, I believe they will continue taking the berries.

Don Lenard: "How dare he say such things!? You (the player) will return to him bearing this message: Stop the berry picking or be hanged."

When you return to Kalad's hut, you find a small child there, alone, rummaging through Kalad's wares. Player: "Excuse me, but have you seen Kalad recently?" Valad: "Why?" Player: "I've a message from Don Lenard..." Valad then smiles with a devilish grin. Valad: "Tell Don Lenard, Kalad is dead. Unless of course, you want the whole of the Militia firing their muskets at you, on sight."...

I'm tired of typing, so you'll have to find a snazzy way to end that up, or beg me to finish it. Lol

Quests

Ok, I've looked up on your game and I must say it really looks good. However I'm still unfamiliar with how powerful the levels make the hero... So I'll just give you a few outlines for some quests I've thought of and let you fill in some of the blanks to fit LOA.

1. Probably a higher level quest. Your character becomes cursed and turns into some kind of monster, greatly reducing his/her skills. To turn back into your normal self you must find certain items to make a potion (or whatever would fit into LOA).

2. A lower level quest. You must sneak into a magic tomb (or whatever would fit) with monsters MUCH more powerful then you are. While in the tomb (or whatever) you are blessed with a semi-invisibility spell. You can move around without the monsters seeing you, however if you get too close to one you will become visible again, causing them to attack. You could also do this with potions of invisibility, having a short lasting effect.

3. Low-Mid level quest. A regular go-out-and-find-an-item quest, however the item has some kind of effect on you. I was thinking about having monsters attack you from a much greater distance then normal, but anything more creative you can think of would probably be better. :)

4. High level quest. Some kind of kill-something quest, however have it so either all abilities are cancled out for the fight, or you normal attack wouldn't effect what you were fighting. Either would have a very significant effect at that level. I'm hoping this won't count as a boss battle... Maybe have multiply enemies that you must fight to make it seem more like a limited regular fight.

5. Higher level quest. Kind of basic and found in tons of games, but I noticed you didn't seem to have one like this... You're sent out to find a rune (or whatever) in some far off place. On it is inscribed a small part of a journal of an explorer from the far past. When you return to the quest giver he concludes there must be more, spread all throught the world. He instructs you to find them all (give a specific number) to understand the explorers journey. I really like these quests, because not only does it allow you to explore the entire world as it is today, but also get the story of what it was like in the past with the records of the explorer. I suggest each time you find you you update the quest list, telling you how many you have left to find and maybe adding what was written on that rune. As a reward you could possibly give out some gold for each rune found.

6. Lower level quest. You're sent out to get some kind of an item, something slippery preferably. Because it is so slippery, you are unable to pick it up with a weapon/gloves/rings or any other things that you use with your hands. If you try it will slip away to another point on the map. You can choose whether or not to tell the player about the slipping part. :)

7. Mid-High level quest. The basic escort quest with a twist. You have to escort some powerful person throught a forest (or wherever), because he fears a wizard (again, whatever fits) who lives in it. While escorting him, the wizard shows up and mind-controls the person your escorting (once again, whatever way would fit to make the person your escorting an enemy). Now, you could either kill both the person you're escorting, or just kill the wizard. If you kill them both you still get a slight reward. However, if you only kill the wizard, then the person you are escorting will break from the wizards control and will follow you once again, giving you a much greater reward when you finish. Make the person you're escoring a melee fighter and the wizard ranged, so you would naturally want to kill the one you're escorting first. Obviosly, don't tell them the mind control will break if you kill the wizard. Involves some logic from the player and could possibly be a quest that would be rarely done correctly... Great for replayability! :)

8. Any level you want the quest to be would work. It would probably fit an evil race the best. Your city has kidnapped an allience person (whoever would work). You must help the city hold off an attack by the allience. I'm not sure if it would fit well for LOA, but if it does it would seem pretty fun!

9. Lower level. A holy shrine used to cure wounds has been cursed! The local priest has given you some holy item (something that fits) to cure it. When you enter the shrine, a group of ghosts attack you a good way from where you need to be to cure the shrine. You could kill the ghosts, but they are strong and would stand a pretty good chance of killing you. However, if you run to where you need to cure the shrin, the shrine will be cured, killing all the ghosts for you. Again, it involves some thinking from the player and may take a while for people to figure it out.

10) Probably a lower level quest. You agree to test a teleport spell created by a wizard. While casting the spell, something goes wrong and you are teleported to a place far away. Once you find your way back the wizard will apologize and give you a reward.

I stole a few of them from other games I played, but tried to add my own unique parts to it... 8)
I hope these helped, tell me if you liked any in particular and I might be able to come up with some more like them!

EDIT: added a 10th quest and fixed some grammer. Lots to read so I'm not 100% that its all still correct :(

:D Nice stuff! :D

I didn't have one in particular that caught my eye, since I have a minimal idea of how any of them would fit into LoA as of right now... Either way, great job with those! I hope the Project Leaders decide to use some of them. :D

P.S. - Is 10. inspired by Runescape? *ponder*

Dont think that one would fit, since we allready got random wars going on... but rest was very inspireing, and i think we will use some of them..

Anyway, thx for putting my suggestion into the list :)
Here is another one, more simple and shoter...
Just a thought...

Reborned Serpernts [Alliance]
I heard that some wanderers saw long mentioned Serpernt Guardians in the history book. I wonder why they re-arisen. Hmm, they also say that the leader of the guardian need some help. And i also heard from one of the wanderer that told me that if will manage to solve the guardian's problem, he might aid us in the war.
[Requires Lvl 25]
[Not Repeatable]

Model for Serpents: Naga should be suitable
Model for Quest Starter: Villager Male/Female
Quest: Solve the Serpernt's Leader problem(s)
Reward: Naga will aid the hero's nearest location of battle field.

If it doesnt match again, srry ><"

The Crushinator (Neutral)
A small neutral camp exists outside a cave. Inside the camp, you are given a quest to retreive a peice of ancient armor from inside the cave. The cave constits of a short, curvy hallway where, randomly, pillars and elevator doodads rapidly descend to smash intruders (Hence the name). At the end, you must battle a golem using the armor ("Guardian"). Once you slay the Golem, the armor is dropped and a portal opens, leading to the camp outside the cave (Or, for more fun, to some remote city/ruins).

Requires Level [Something]
[Not repeatble, but you may still enter the cave.]

Reward: You get to keep the armor.
If you fail: Nothing, but you can still try the quest in the same game session. Just enter the cave again.

Might I suggest having a Hero Quest at whatever level you can become a Hero? Once it's complete you could get a new ability or something, and some kind of aura around your hero (like a Hero Glow, only make it white for the good races and black for the bad). That way not only do you have bragging rights, but you also look cooler too!

I don't really have any suggestions for what the quest would be like yet, but I could probably come up with one once BOB comes out and I can actually see what the map looks like. :)
Just make sure that it's very long and challenging!

Also, have you concidered having class-specific quests that force the player to use the abilities the class has to complete, and reward the player with an item useful to the class? Here are my suggestions:

Elf Druid:
The Roots of Learning
The Elder Druids were experimenting with Shape Shift, and trying to transform into animals other then a wolf. To do so, they needed to closely examine the animals they were trying to become. However, a few of these animals recently escaped! The Elder Druids don't have time to gather them up, so they hired you. The animals are very fast, and you wont be able to keep up with them by running after them, so you have to use your Root spell to catch them. After returning all the animals you are rewarded.
Reward: Transmuted Staff-This staff has been warped in such a way that it appears to be solid yet flexable at the same time. There is a small stag carved at the top. Allows the user to tranform into a stag, enhancing his maximum mana and mana regeneration (and an extra spell or two if you want).

Goblin Thief:
Goblins' Grief
Yikes! The mayor of a nearby Human Village has stolen an sacred Goblin rellic! We need you to get it back for us!!! There are powerful guards aound him, so you'll need to use your Hide ability and wait untill they walk past to get near enough to Pick Pocket the mayor. The "sacred rellic" is really just a stone with nothing special about it.
Reward: Dagger of the Thief-This ancient dagger has been passed on from thief to thief for centuries. You feel more nimble just holding it in your hands. Increases the chance of finding a rare item when using the Pick Pocket ability.

Human Paladin:
Curing a Conflict
My lord, we desperately need your help! Our beloved king has fallen ill, and just as he was about to be fully healed our Clerics ran out of power! Please, we need you to keep him alive untill they regain their power. You must use your Tend Wounds ability on the king while he is periodically taking damage. If you run out of mana, there is a stock of mana potions nearby, but you can only get one every minute (or however long the Paladin will last) and running there will waste valuable time! After the king is kept alive for five minutes the Clerics will get their power back and be able to fully heal the king.
Reward: Sword of Saints- This old sword was kept by a famous Cleric for many years. Some of his powers can still be fealt resinating from the blade. Increases the amount healed from the Tend Wounds ability.

Human Wizard:
Fire Fighter
A nearby village has caught fire! You are given a bucket of water to help put it out and must periodically return to a well to fill it up. The catch is that there are still people in some places, and to reach them before they are killed from the fire you must walk in the fire, causing damage. If you use your Shield of the Immortal spell you wont take damage. Also, there may be rubble blocking the way that can only be moved using your Archane Blast spell.
Reward: Scepter of Immortality- Ancient wizards have cast many potective spells on this scepter. Decreases damage taken from magical attacks.

Orc Alchemest
The Potent Potion
The village chief has fallen gravely ill. You have been assigned to cure him with a potion. The potion you need is an incredibly rare potion you get from using your Potion Brewing ability.
Reward: None decided yet, I'll come up with something once more abilities are added.

Orc Berserker:
Bloodless Berserkers
Ugh, the puny new recruits for becoming a Berserker are pitiful! You there, show them how the thirst for blood really feels! You have to take a group of VERY weak Berserkers out, and help them slay their first beasts. Of course, it will be a bit of a challange, since they wont get the "thirst" if you do all the killing. You have to use Battle Orders often to allow them to do some actual damage, and later take most of the hits for them if they get too low on health. After 20 kills they will get the "thirst for blood".
Reward: Axe of the Bloodthirsty- These large axes are given to berserkers who have done great things for the Horde. When used, the Berserker does a powerful melee attack.

Orc Hunter:
Hunting the Hunters
There's an army advancing on us! If we want to survive the raid without a considerable loss then we're going to need to ambush them! You have to go out with a small force of warriors and use your Fog Trap ability to confuse the enemy while the warriors fight them.
Reward: None decided yet, I'll come up with something once more abilities are added.

Undead Warlock
Unleashing the Demon
One of those damned apprentice Warlocks let loose an uncontrolabe Demon! Unfortionatly, it was too powerful for the last foolish Warlock we sent after it, so now we're stuck with you! Apparently this Demon cannot be destroyed through normal attacks and spells, but needs to be dispelled out of this world by a Master Warlock. What we need you to do is blind the beast with your Orb of Darkness spell while the Master Warlock begins casting the spell. Unfortionatly, the blinding doesn't last long enough, and you are forced to call down your own demon with the Ritual of Bemôra spell to "tank" the monster while the Master Warlock finishes casting the dispelling spell. The reward could be a few things.
Reward: Orb of the Demon Master- This pure black orb emits faint whispers when a demon in nearby. Allows the Warlock to dispel a demon he creates (very long recast).

I hope you like my ideas, and hopefully you'll finish the abilities so I can make more with the other classes! :p

EDIT: Added titles (some of them are pretty corny, so go ahaid and change them if you want  ), changed the rewards so they would work with the game, and fixed some spelling/grammer.

As im the one making all these quests, maybe i should be more active in the quest thread? :D

The problem with class specific quests is:
More work -> Less quests

I can make the same amount of quests (but let them work for all classes) and then alot more ppl will make them. Otherwise i will have to make huge amounts or every class will only have about 3 quests in the end ^^

Current finished quests:
Letter Runner
Wolf Hunt

(Yes i know i havent been very active, but anyways :D)

Well, I was thinking of only having one or two per class, just to give some very nice items that help the class out. You could still have tons of normal quests in the game...

But you are the quest-maker, so whatever you think is best.

I can't wait untill BOB, then I can actually make quests that fit the game better! :D

The Revival of Death (Undead)

A demi-god known as the grim reaper has decided to Kill off the undead. We're about to send an onslaught to Overwhelm him, but we know it wont.
While The demigod is distracted i want you to go to his shrine and steal the skull that gives him power
Careful, he may not have magic afterwards but he is still mighty

Reward- A Reapers Scyth- Grants Powerful blows that only affect humans. Gives Secret quests where the discription should be...

Secret quests- Death to the demigods
1) Pan (Satyre) (Greek Mythology)
2) Chiron (Centaur) (Greek Mythology)
3) Minotaur

Pan- You must search in the mountains for a scream, little water food or shelter is available so you may become ill fast (negative health regen)

Chiron- Over the mighty hills lives the wisests of centaurs, You must battle armies or evade them to get to this centaur

Minotaur- Find you way to the middle, fight the minotaur then find your way out before other beasts kill you

Reward- Aura of the Mighty- possibly an extra big or extravagant heros glow and raises strength, agility and intelligenc by a lot

i rekon your wolf hunt quest should be an anuel event where in the there is say a 10% chance of the quest happening and u get huge gold rewards for each wolf u kill

I really like this idea! You might want to consider making Wolf Hunt like this, or make another quest similer to it.

Yes thats a fun idea :) And really simple... The only problem is letting the players know it has started; I mean a message over the screen that says "Wolf hunt has begun" isnt really that RPG-like. Maybe if i put up signs all over human/elf lands and when you go close it says "The sign says blabla"

That about the signs was a good idea.
In this way we can inform players on new quests and stuff like that, when we update the map.

I just got an idea. Maybe we can put a sign in each town on wich the players can write whatever they want.
Like : "Hi, i sell a healing potion for much more than it's worth." or something like that.
So when a player walks up to the sign and selects to read it the messege will show up.
A player can write only one thing on a sign at the same time and of course the sign can hold a messege for each player.

Oh yea thats a cool idea! Hmm or maybe we can use the shopmode from lineage; when you choose to put one of your items for bidding, a floating text appears above ur head with whatever you are selling and how much u want for it.

Very nice ideas! I've been wondering if you're thinking of making tradeskills like fishing or blacksmithing. It would be very cool if you actually made animations for them! I'm talking about a while from now though, since it would take quite some time to do all that and I sure don't want to game to be delayed any longer. :)
