problems with wc3modeleditor

Can some one help me figure out why i can't use the warcraft 3 model editor? Every time I start it up an error comes up that says "make sure warcraft 3 is installed and that the registration key "HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Blizzard entertainment/ Warcraft III/InstallPath" exists. Any ideas what's wrong?

Is your copy of Warcraft3 legitimate? Have you messed with any of the Warcraft3 folders?

no i haven't altered the file in any way whatsoever and it is a legitimate copy.

Your OS infomations and if you have The Frozen Throne would help.
It definatly works with a german version of Windows XP with english RoC + TFT with the lattest patch of 1.21 in the default install directory. It can not be garunteed to work with windows vista, only roc or any non 1.21 patch with an illegal version of WC3.
