If its the green-black checkered box you are referring to, save your map, close the WarCraft Editor, reopen the editor, then open your map. After that is should be fine. The editor can't load models in real time so you have to refresh its data base by restarting the editor.

post screenshot or the map itself,
can't figure out what's the problem from your vague explanation.
if what you mean is there's green icon in your unit command card, probably you set the wrong icon path or the icon doesn't have its DISBTN counterpart.

When you're importing models in your map then you need to save it first and restart world editor, and of course maybe the model has a texture paths.
In Icon, when importing icon, then you need to import DISBTN too if you import the BTN, because it will make the icon color green if they've no disable icon. Remember that blizzard already detect the DISBTN icons.

BTN:
You must put ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtons\BTNMy_Icon.blp
DISBTN:
You must put ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtonsDisabled\DISBTNMy_Icon.blp

No, no, no.

Import, save, use the stuff. It will work, no need to restart the map or the editor. Just save the map before using the imported thing in object editor for example.

Yes, the models will work but it will not show in the WarCraft editor, that's why if you want to see the model while editing, you need to restart your editor.
