Is double Team banned? That's kinda dumb that they would ban in game set strategies - I understand some things are OP but evasion takes time to build up wasting you precious time allowing the other person to get a few strikes in before you become a pain.

Except...1 Evasion move = a good chance for your opponent to miss and if they don't want to miss they generally go for a low damaging attack. Evasion is pretty damn uber in online play and always has been.

I don't think Evasion-Raising Moves is "OMG AWZUM MUST BAN". Aerial Ace, Faint Attack and Aura Sphere can break through them. Also Lock-On.

Grawr, for a Lead, use a speedy Pokemon capable of using Stealth Rock/Toxic Spikes/Spikes (Skarmory can do Spikes, not sure about Stealth Rock...), or a Pokemon capable of shutting them down (Such as a Weavile with Taunt.), those two are main choices by many players. I suggest a Metagross, it's an epic Stealth Rock Lead.

Most people choose leads that are either capable of setting up Stealth Rock, Spikes or Toxic Spikes, or capable of using Taunt. While these are not bad strategies in themselves, it does make you think - why would I do this when I can easily counter it?

Skarmory, for the record, is horrificly slow. It gets raped by Infernape leads. It will also get raped by many other leads, namely the fast Taunters (as this means Skarmory can't do what it's meant to do).

I've seen many people use a Foretress lead. I always do the same thing against these - set up my Nasty Plot Infernape. Ends up with a very dead Foretress. If Foretress decides to use Explosion, my Focus Sash kicks in. THEN you have the real problem - Blazed AND Nasty Plotted Modest Infernape Sweep. And that's my FIRST Pokemon. If you even manage to beat that, you'll be pretty much dead.

So... setting up a sweep on the first move can be a good idea. The only thing you have to be careful of then would be fast sleepers. Umbreon Lead is beastly. It will be used to set up a Baton Pass chaing (starting with Yawn, most likely, then using Mean Look only to Baton Pass that to an appropriate counter. Let that get set up, and you're screwed)

Some other common tactics are the lead Trick Scarfers. This is where I LOVE having a lead pokemon which I use for Sweeping. If I decide to use Flamethrower or the likes because I know they are faster, putting Choice Scarf on my Infernape just makes it soooo much better :3
Although you can then put in an appropriate counter, it's not bad at all ;)

There are many other lead possibilities, but I like my Infernape lead the best :3

I already have my blaziken so I don't really want another fire starter

maybe I should mention that I'm not really planning on getting too into this... just want to battle against randoms on the interwebs I find and stuff, you know, people who tend to not know strategy much or do anything involving tiers.
And I don't really like using legendaries that much, at least not the big ones

Maybe I should drop the blaziken but I want to keep the lanturn and togekiss

Hey, kinda unrelated to the start discussion (Dark leads are probably pretty good to start with as they tend to be fast, have little direct weakness and have plenty of moves that are versatile (they seem like their pretty much just a more powerful version of normal) but once you beat the Pokemon League you pretty much become the strongest trainer in the game (your game at least) - how do you continue on to level your team up to 100 afterward? You seem to do this pretty fast - what is it max out the effort points on a pokemon then rare candy the rest of the way?

Assuming you have that many rare candies, that would work. Otherwise you just fight the elite four over and over.

redscores, if you're looking for an OU lead, I'd go with Smeargle @Choice Scaf with Jolly Nature (Spore, Trick, Encore, Destiny Bond). EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 Spe

The strat here is pretty obvious. If they have a lead that you know you can outspeed with Scarf then Spore and switch into something that can setup (they'll probably switch here and predict that). He's also pretty useful later, as he can Trick and Destiny Bond people to hell with his Choice Scarf. This is little bit of a tougher set and requires a lot of prediction to pull off.

If you want something UU, try Uxie @Leftovers with Impish or Bold Nature (Stealth Rock, Yawn, U-Turn, Zen Headbutt). EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def

Basically you want to set up Yawn and then Rock them on the switch. It can be pretty decent later on, too seeing as how it has U-Turn which does a lot of damage to Psychic, Dark, and Ghost types.

Keep in mind that your lead doesn't have to necesarrily be faster. It just has to get whatever job you want done. Also, your lead doesn't NEED to have Stealth Rocks. Sometimes it's a good idea to scout with a U-Turn lead and then send in something that can Stealth Rock.

If you don't care about tiers, I'd definitely go for Smeargle. I use that Smeargle occasionally in battles and it does really well against people who try to setup with a lead or setup stealth rocks/spike support.

I've got a few lvl 100's. All I really do is just run the pokemon league a few times with my Kygore out and the pokemon of choice with an XPshare. This not only gets you all the XP you'll need, but you can get all the money you want too. Its even better with an Amuelt Coin. That or try and find a rare candy glitch.

Smeargle's a bit of a pain to get the moves you want though >__>

Which would you say is better as a lead, uxie or azelf?

I kinda like the grass prediction - its odd, I almost always prefer the Grass starter in pretty much every single one I played

I always pick the grass starter the first time I play through. I don't think I've every actually beat a Pokemon game with the fire starter.

Gah, what about a Trick Lead? Get a Pokemon capable of using Trick, have it carry Choice Band or whatever you want, Preferably the Speed-Boosting Choice Item, trick their lead, and lock them into a support move.

Torment does that too. EDIT: Never mind, it does the opposite >__>

By the way does anyone know of a page that just lists different roles and what pokemon fit those roles? Like a list of leads, a list of healers, a list of sweepers, etc.
