By the way does anyone know of a page that just lists different roles and what pokemon fit those roles? Like a list of leads, a list of healers, a list of sweepers, etc.

It's called Smogon Blissey is an Epic Healer/Special Wall, Shuckle is a great Phys. Wall, Dragon Dancing Gyrados works for a Sweeper, AgiliGross (Metagross /w Agility) makes for a good lategame sweeper.

Bidoof was the first pokemon I saw in Diamond after the starters. The second I saw that dumb thing, void of intelligence and lacking in style, I knew that I much preferred the art style of the last game.

I think they're aiming for a release in japan later this year, which usually means translated versions will be out half a year later.

Apparently, but I have no DS and kinda feel like waiting on the 3DS instead of buying a DS just before they release a new handheld.

I'm sure it'll have backwards-compatibility too.

If it still works on it you could probably pick up the original DS for pretty cheap

lead? utility? healer? something like that.

(By utility I mean one that can do stuff like heal bell/aromatherapy, toxic/thunder wave/will o wisp/etc, stealth rock/spikes/toxic spikes)

Usually the lead has the stealth rock/spikes/toxic spikes.

Blissey is a good healer if you can somehow get your hands on one with wish Otherwise see if you can get something else with wish and low speed and u-turn

EDIT : To Dustin, you can always get a wishing Vaporeon, she works as an epic special wall.
Or, unless you want to be a prissy, you can use Bidoof, a man's man's man's man's chuck norris' pokemon, that's only topped by Chuck Norris' spiritual embodiment in Pokemon... Magikarp. Base Stats : 666 Each. Moves : Splash (DOES 9999999999999999 DAMAGE WHEN YOU RUN OUT OF FAIL.).
EDIT2 : I also suggest getting a rapid spinner for those pesky entry hazards. Donphan is usable as one, so are Skarmory and Foretress. If not, you can get a Taunt lead, like Weavile or so.

I like the Grass starter and the Fire starter has its charm in my opinion. I'm hoping it's going to look Pirate Pig-like. But that Water Pokémon looks like they squashed everything they could on some circles so I could agree there.

Here's my speculation on the new starter's third evo's Types:
Fire: Fire/Ground, Fire/Dark, Fire
Grass: Grass/Dragon, Grass/Fighting, Grass
Water: So ugly. I can't tell. Probably Water/Ground or pure Water

I don't know they'd want to return to Otter anyways, Buizel and that normal badger sort of thing from Ruby/Saphire (which could learn surf) filled the Otter vacancy pretty well anyways.

Nah, I'm not saying an Otter is overused (yeah Linoone's the one - you have to admit it kinda looks like an Otter) I'm just saying that the role of water Otter is pretty much already filled well (and in a much less fugly manner).

Also Lizard is such a general term, Otter is specific to species while Lizard is just kinda general for reptiles (that aren't snakes). The lizard thing does look a bit like Milotic with legs but I don't really see much of a reason to dislike the way it looks.
